[Brief History:] Julian Black is the only son of Frank Black, a legendary professional boxer on his young days who was nicknamed ‘The Devil’ because he was considered an unstoppable devil in the ring. His mother died when he was still too young to remember her and his father never spoke much of her to his son except when he was drunk and missed her in old age, and even then he wasn’t very coherent.
Julian still harbor fond memories of his father standing in the ring back when he was a kid. He was his hero, and he hoped he could grow up to be just like him. But Frank Black wanted a better life for his son than getting his head bashed in a ring and sent him to study in New York when he was eighteen years old. Frank had quit fighting a long time before that and built a gym to train new fighters and support him and his son.
For three years, Jules kept true to his father wishes and stayed in administration school until his father died. He left school and started to fend by himself in New York, taking a job as a bouncer at a night club and going back to New Orleans only for his father’s funeral before heading back to New York and leaving the gym abandoned for four years.
Until one day a dying friend of his mother called for him, saying he needed to speak with him about her before he passed away. Returning to New Orleans, he visited a dying old man that told him he had kept his mouth shut because his father had asked him, but believed that Julian deserved to know the truth about his mother. He told him that she was a huntress that fought supernatural monsters before meeting his father and having him. They were going to get married and she was to settle down when a demon tried to kill JB while he was still a baby to take revenge on his mother and that she sacrificed herself to save him. His father, not wanting him to be exposed to the same dangers his mother faced, forced the old man to keep it a secret from him and now that the old man was dying he felt he had to reveal it. The gym his father owned was supposed to be a training ground for hunters, and that he had sent his son away just to not get him involved in that.
Julian initially dismissed it as the ramblings of an old lunatic, even so that the man gave him several letters that supposedly were from his mother, telling about her hunting days. He was about to get ready to go back to New York and never look back when he took a quick stop at his father’s old gym for a last look. And that was when he was approached by a panicked girl that claimed to be hunted by a demon and was told that she could find help from a hunter in the gym. After that, the last thing he can remember is a man with weird black eyes that showed up and with a wave of his hand sent him flying back smashing into a wall and falling unconscious into the floor only to wake up hours later with a major headache and finding the girl dead in a pool of blood.
Looking through his mother letters, he learned all he could about the supernatural and set out to see if he could find the truth about his parents and what happened when the girl was killed. What he found was far more than he could imagine. Demons, vampires, werewolves and a bunch of other nasty lots were real and barely avoided being killed a few times, he learned how to defend himself and fight back and take a few of them down. Ultimately reopening his father’s gym as a hunter’s training ground, he has been training, learning and passing ahead all he can about being a hunter, hoping he can make a difference and honor his parent’s memory.
[Role Play Sample:]
Julian stared right into his opponent eyes and he could see the glint in them, he thought he had him this time…he couldn’t be more wrong. Well, if he played fair he might be right, but that wasn’t the case. That stupid grin on his lips would vanish from the guy’s face as soon as he made his move.
“Look at them and weep, full house, aces over eights,” he said with a smirk placing the cards on the table and savoring the disappointed look on the man’s face. “Sorry man, looks like this isn’t your lucky night. Maybe you will get luck next time, huh?” With a smug smirk he rose from his chair and collected his winnings from the table and placed them on his pocket. Some extra cash would come in handy.
Just as he started to move away, a cute brunette approached him and settled her hand in his shoulder. “Jules,” she said, “I was starting to believe you had fallen off the face of the world, have you been hiding from me?” she added with a teasing tone before her hands started playing with the brown locks of his hair.
“Hiding? No I just have been busy Samantha, I…” as he spoke those words, he froze before the frown and anger in her face. What did he…oh crap! “Jessica…?”
The answer he got was a harsh slap to his face as the girl walked away, cursing him for forgetting her name. “That was a little harsh, I hardly think I deserved that.” Sighing, he had no time for anything else before he was then being pushed against the wall by a hot looking redhead and received a fiery kiss. Surprised at first, he then lowered his guard as his lips locked with hers. And then when she finally broke the kiss with a mischievous look on her face, she slapped him too. But as she moved away, she stopped to glance back at him and give an impish grin.
“Now that I deserved,” Jules said rubbing his jaw before a smirk came to his features. Just then, the ace he had under his sleeve slipped away into the floor getting the attention of the man he had just been playing cards with, causing him to rise from his chair with visible anger on his features as he clenched his fists and moved towards him. The guy was big, huge might be the right word.
“Now, can’t we talk about this?” Julian asked before a powerful punch connected with his face, making him stumble back temporarily dizzy. Shaking his head, he recovered just in time to use his hand to block another punch aimed at his face and hold the guy’s hand in his grasp. “Guess not?” he spoke before a smirk showed up on his features.
