This is a Alternate Storyline set five years into the future. Its purely for FUN and doesn't have to follow the sequence of the show. Anyone is welcome to join in this fun thread and enjoy the twist! Be creative and just let your muses flow! (This will be all one thread so please use tags and let us know where and when your character is playing!)

Jo Jordan - The Jordan Residence - October 2014 (tag Curse - Openish for people who know them)Jo was outside, enjoying a bright fall day. It was nice enough outside that she could bring the kids out to ride. They had been driving her crazy to go outside and ride their horses. Curse had certainly turned them into quite the horse lovers.
Things were a bit different these days. The world hadn't gone completely to hell but the Jordan's and the Blair's had taken precautions. Their neighboring properties were now considered something of a safe haven compound. There was a fenced outer perimeter surrounding the combined expanse of their property. Every protection imaginable magical or physical, including armed guards if it came to that, was employed to ward off unwanted visitors.
Jo and Curse had gone to great lengths to make sure that if worse came to worse that their family would be sheltered and their children able to grow up as happy as possible. Their family had grown over the years. The twins, Jake and Tessa were five years old now. In addition they had a three year old boy named Ashton William and a one year old daughter named Chantelle Ellen.
These days the two Blair children, Sebastian 5 and Simone Elizabeth 3, were quite frequently at the Jordan house. Lexi and her powers were out trying to do what she could to help keep the good guys on top of the situation. So today Jo was standing in the riding arena watching over all six children.
Right now Jo was staring down the three oldest who all sat on top of their horses. Bastian, Tessa and Jake all looked back at her with typical expressions from five year olds. Having been through this speech before. "OK you three... You know the rules. No going above a trot while Curse isn't here and no telling me that the horse just starting running on it's own. Break the rules and no riding for three days." Jo looked at all three of them as sternly as possible. Though she knew all three could see right through her. She gave a particular look to her own two children. "Especially you two. You know daddy won't be happy if you give mommy a heart attack right? So go on. Have fun but be careful. I'm watching you three!" Giving a little sigh she shooed them off to go ride. Then she sat down on the ground cross legged as the other three younger children sat in the dirt and played. Perfectly content to play with their sand toys and hot wheels on the ground of the arena.

Ben Braeden ~ The Blair Estate ~ October 2014 ((Open to all who know Ben or the Blairs/Jordans))Leaning against the back of the dirty Hummer, Ben watched the sky above him. It was a sunny day, a rarity in this day and age. Running his hand through his hair, he leaned back, scratching his stubbly cheek. The apocalypse had changed Ben, a lot. With the spread of the Croatoan virus, the death of some many people close to him, the fall of all the worlds major cities, all of it, Ben had become a totally different person than even he had ever imagined. At fifteen years old, he acted more like he was 25. Sighing, he sat back, pressing the play button on his mp3 player, “Disarm” by The Smashing Pumpkins filling his ears. Listening to the words of the song, he closed his eyes, continuously flipping the black ka-bar knife in his hand, thinking about everything. I used to be a little boy So old in my shoes With the apocalypse, he had grown up quickly, giving up what little of his childhood he already hadn't, and becoming the hunter he had always said he would be. But not even that had lasted. With the apocalypse going on around him, the old way of life slowly faded away. People who had once been hunters slowly became more like soldiers, and Ben had been no different. Truth was, werewolves, spirits, all of them, they were either dead and gone, or like humans, hiding out and trying to avoid the Croates. Some weres and even vampires had joined the hunters, or that's what Ben had heard down the grapevine. And what I choose is my choice Whats a boy supposed to do? The killer in me is the killer in you My love I send this smile over to you In this world, all people had were their loved ones. There wasn't a such thing as friends anymore, not really If you cared about someone, they were family. Ben had lost a lot of them in his life. Disarm you with a smile And leave you like they left me here To wither in denial The bitterness of one who's left alone Ooh, the years burn Ooh, the years burn, burn, burn Losing his mom as a kid was what had solidified his desire to be a hunter, then, Dean's death had finished his journey. Ben had been, well, a rookie before that. He had done all he could, but upon learning of Dean and Jessie's death, Ben had snapped. After that, it was no problem for him to kill every Croate he came across, and he was good at it. His anger, and his hatred, added to his hunter training, made him the perfect killing machine. Looking down at the knife in his hand, he ran his finger over the serrated edge, thinking about everything. He had a hummer packed down with weapons and other supplies. It was time to go out on another hunt, but this time, it wasn't just to hunt down Croates, it was to find someone he loved, the only person that had ever come close to being a mom to him. He was going to lose her, he was going to find her. Sliding the knife into the sheathe on his belt, he pulled out his gun, checked the clip to make sure it was full, then turned to get in the vehicle.

Natalya Valentine >> Las Vegas (or what's left of it anyway) >> October 2014 >> Tag: Open to Anyone
A warrior-like yell resounded and echoed over the barren desolation that had become Las Vegas, the city that had once been a hustling, bustling center of sex, drugs, and money-hungry idiots gambling away any and everything they had at their choice of games. The Croatoan virus had killed almost everyone except for those who were strong enough - and smart enough - to avoid it which was mostly the hunters and those with special abilities.
Natalya was one of them, as she now stood over a Croate, the blade of her dagger buried to the hilt into its chest, the blade going straight through the body and into the sand under it. Slowly, she pulled the blade out and stood up straight, wiping away the blood with a handkerchief from her back pocket.
Sileo in pacis*, wretched scum, she hissed icily, her cold blue eyes staring down at the dead body. Natalya was now a battle hardened hunter, especially since the Croatoan virus had killed the rest of her family, but it hadn't gotten her; some unseen force had seen to that, and so had Mike, the angel she was connected to through the tiny golden sword that hung around her neck.
Sheathing the dagger, Natalya walked briskly from the body to her truck, her blonde hair fluttering wildly in the wind that stirred up the dust of the desert town. Her face was smudged with dirt and grime from her hunts of the day, and she knew she'd have to find some place to clean up. Even though she was a hunter, she still didn't like to run around dirty and grimy.
Climbing up in her truck, Natalya droved until she came to one of the many abandoned hotels, pulling her truck up into the parking garage so as to hide it. With her gun at her side, she made her way inside the hotel, her blue eyes scanning for any threats. Entering the stairwell, she began making her way up, her military training giving her the stamina to jog most of the way up until she reached the penthouse level. Claiming one of the rooms, she showered quickly then set up a lookout at one of the big windows, knowing she have to hold up until the morning.
* Sileo in pacis = Rest in peace

Post by Lexi Blair on Oct 14, 2009 10:23:47 GMT -5
As storm clouds rolled over New Orleans, the city streets were eirly silent except for the rattling of abandoned newspapers and trash that lay everywhere. Not a flicker of movement could be seen in or around the once lively French Quarter. Like the ghost towns of the old west, the buildings seemed waiting for their occupants to come home even though no life flickered in their depths.
From the corner of one such dwelling, a slight twitch appeared as the figure of a young woman made her way down a side alley. Keeping her gun at ready, Alexis Blair scanned the shadows as she moved forward in a military like stance. Her gaze was ever watchful as she signaled to the dark depths behind her and yet another set of figures emerge.
Moving with precision, they slipped in the back door of an abandoned store and began to quickly rifled through a counter of medications, antibodics and various other necessities. Standing sentinel to the others, Lexi watched the street as items were stuffed inside duffle bags and another figure joined her at the window.
Glancing upwards at her husband, the blond tried to smile but found it was almost impossible. Time had changed them both and although they were still as close as ever, she could see the darkness in both of them. For five years now they had been fighting what seemed like a losing battle and each knew that it was only a matter of time before the masses overwhelmed the safeguards they had managed to put into effect for their friends and loved ones. Even with all their protection spells and guards, it was a day to day thing.
Over the past few years, they had lost a lot of their close friends either to demons or the croatoan virus that had cut a swath through the human population. The only ones spared either had special abilities or had been strangely immune. Lexi herself had discovered that she was immune because of her angel ancestry after being attacked and badly injured. The archangel Micheal and come upon her just as she had been ready to charge a group of infected humans to save her loved ones the pain of killing her. At his assurance that she would be fine, she’d locked herself in a confinement room just to be safe but his words had proven true.
Pulling herself back to the current moment, she felt Max’s hand on her shoulder and gave him a nod to let him know she was all right. She just wanted to get this done and get the hell out of here before any more of those infected zombies showed up. They'd already been out almost a day longer than they should have been and their loved ones were probably getting nervous. Knowing Ben, she didn't put it past him to try to come looking for them but they couldn't have gone back empty handed and they'd had to hide from the infected humans.
Each of them knew that every time they left their compound, they might not be coming back and each time they got home safely… Well, it was safe to say they all gave a little prayer of thanks.
“We good?” she asked over her shoulder.
From behind her, Curse Jordan muttered an oath and then palmed a handful of PEZ candy holders from the shelf. His eyes gleamed as he stuffed them into his coat pocket and then grabbed some more. Smiling a bit, Lexi looked at Max and then went to the shelf to do the same. For all their hardness, there wasn’t a moment when any of them stopped thinking about their little ones at home and what this war was really for. Those precious lives back at home where the very reason they kept fighting.
“Great idea, Jordan…. Its been awhile since the kiddoes had something like this…..” she said as she took some and placed them in her own pockets. “Now.. Lets get the hell out of here, shall we?”
At their nods, the blond headed for the door and opened it. Peeking out, she scanned the area for enemies and then nodded. “Lets go!” she whispered before sliding out and covering the men as they hauled the heavily ladened duffle bags out the door.
Making not a whisper of sound, they ran down the alley and through the streets towards the place they had left the vehicle. Just as they were almost there, Lexi caught a glimmer of movement and whirled around to see a dozen “zombies” exiting a building. Cursing, she yelled at the men to get in the SUV and then opened fire.
“GO! GO!GO!” she shouted as they dove into the vehicle and she jumped in after them.
With Max behind the wheel, the small troop navigated the city streets at a fast clip.Manning an automatic, Curse fired out the back of the moving truck while Lexi discarded her own empty to focus on the road ahead.
Once in awhile, an enemy would step into their path but the hunter never slowed down. Using her powers, Lexi flung obsticales out of their way that would have hampered their progress and was never so glad to see the military gate as she was five minutes later. As the gate opened and then shut behind them, the mass of infected humans hit the electrical wire and the smell of frying flesh filled the air. Not looking back, the blond forced herself to look only forward as they drove back to the safe compound they had established.

Trey Coulter - The Blair/Jordan Compound: Operations Building - October 2014Trey sat in the operations building of the compound. His anxiety level was elevated as he waited for the team to return from their supply mission. The tension was always high when a team went outside their complex. These weren't just hunters, these were people with families. Most everyone that lived in the compound had families and they had all become a very tight knit group.
They had all lost people close to them, for Trey he'd lost both his father and his sister. Losing his twin Jess had hit him the hardest. Thoughts like this always swirled in his mind when he was the one waiting, as he listened for the radio to squawk and watched the security camera monitors. Everyone took turns at being the one to stay back. It was the hardest part, he'd rather be out there with them on the mission. But someone had to stay behind to man the headquarters, today it was his turn.
The compound was pretty extensive now. The combined properties of the Blair's and the Jordan's, plus some of the abandoned surrounding area had become it's own self contained little town. Trey and Curse Jordan had become friends when they landed in jail together after a bar fight. That was five years ago. When it became obvious that things were taking a turn for the worse they had started planning and building.
Several buildings had been built early on. The building Trey was sitting in was the main operations and headquarters building. There was a large garage and motor pool area where they had a fleet of vehicles and heavy duty power generators. They even had massive underground gas and oil tanks. There was a general store building where the supplies were kept and people could go and get what they needed. They had even built several homes on the property so that they could move the families in.
Everything was planned out and the security systems to protect them were just as extensive. They had security cameras set up all over the entire area, monitored by screens at HQ. The security camera's could also be monitored at both the Blair home and the Jordan home, as well as a select few of the other homes where key personnel lived, including Trey and Shane's home. Since the phones no longer operated they kept in contact with hand held radios. They had their own radio tower behind the building and the main base radio was housed in HQ with the security monitors.
The compound was also fenced in with an electrified and razor-wired outer perimeter fence. Then an interior fence. The space between the two fences has guard dogs patrolling it. Then there were the armed guard towers that surrounded the place. Add to that every kind of protective magical spell or charm that could be used was done along with the standard devils traps and whatever other supernatural protection they could come up with. This was probably the safest place on earth these days.
They also raised and grew their own food. Cattle, pigs, chickens and the like were raised in a section away from the rest of the compound. As well as a small farm and orchards where they grew vegetables and fruits. They did everything they could to keep themselves prepared for the long haul.
All of this was done to protect their families. It wasn't easy but it was worth it. Keeping their families, especially the children safe and sheltered was a priority with all of them. Trey's own brood was still growing. There was the oldest, Jazz who was 14 now. When Trey and Shane had gotten married he had gone through the process to legally adopt her. Then they had two more children of their own. A three year old boy named Sean Evan and a girl who was almost two, Julie Grace. With the addition of Jess' twins Jessie and Dean Winchester the total stood at five and was about to grow again as Shane was heavily pregnant with another child.
So... sitting there with a cup of coffee Trey waited. Sipping at the steaming liquid every once in awhile as he stared at the monitors. Anxiously awaiting the safe return of Curse, Max and Lexi as he kept watch over everything that was precious to them all.

The cry of a newborn woke Sammie from her much needed sleep. Soft whispering meet her ears and a gentle smile stole over her face even before she came fully conscious. Blinking her eyes open a bit, she grimaced before pushing herself upright in bed and looking around. As her eyes took in the scene before her, she felt her heart give a strange tug. Pacing back and forth with their newborn son on his shoulder was her still handsome as ever husband and it was obvious he was trying to quiet Jonathan before he woke her.
“Hush now, Jon. Your mama is all tucker out from bringing you into this world. Your just going to have to deal with dad for now, got it? Just you and me, little man.”
Just the sight of them was enough to gladded the young womans heart. There had been a few times over the last few years that she had wondered how this was going to end for them all. For a period, Sam had struggled against the forces that beat at his resolve but he'd proven his loyalty over and over. Dean's death had been a rough spot but Sammie thought that their family was what held him back from the brink.
By sheer luck, he'd come home just in time for Jonathan's birth and seemed to be having a bonding moment as he talked to the infant. Before he could could continue, however, the sound of little feet pitter pattering in the hall rang out and the bedroom door flew open to slam against the wall.
Flinching a bit against the noise, Sammie smiled at her daughter as the little 4 year old whirlwind flung herself at the bed and then clamoured. Glad she was sitting up, she hugged Katie as she hurled herself into her arms with a “MOMMY”.
“Hey there, sweetpea. How is my favorite girl this morning?” she asked her while smoothing the dark locks of the toddler. “Have you greeted your new little brother yet?”
When the child gave an excited nod, Sammie turned her gaze to Sam and the baby. Smiling softly, she gave him a secret look and then patted the bed next to her.
“Why don’t you boys come join us?”

Each day was a blessing. That is what Curse told himself every time he came home. As soon as those military like gates came into view, he gave a small thankful prayer that he'd lived to see another moment with his children. Every mission out took longer and the rewards were harder to obtain. It was only by sheer luck that they managed to hit a jackpot today and make it out without losing one of their team. Having Lexi along helped because they didn't have to worry about obsticales most of the time and the woman was hell on wheels with those angel powers.
As the truck pulled through the safety gates, Curse looked over to see Ben heading for a vehicle. Popping Max on the shoulder, he motioned to the boy and saw that Lexi had already noted him. As the other man parked the vehicle, the sandy haired hunter jumped out and pulled out two of the bags before heading towards the HQ offices. He knew the others would be coming so he didn't hesitate as he walked in and tossed them on the tables.
"Heres the supplies.. Medicine, bandages, and everything else we could pack in there... Now.. If you'll excuse me... I feel the need to cop a feel of my wife's cute little ass and hug my kids. Anyone who interrupts me for the next few hours is getting shot on sight."
Without another word to anyone, he turned and left the building and jumped on a four wheeler that would fly him home. As he sped through the compound, he nodded at various faces but was damn glad when his own house came into view. Pulling around the side, he turned off the ignition and took in the sight of Jo and the kids on horseback. Simi and Bastian were also there so he resigned himself to not being able to drag his wife into the barn and have a proper greeting.
Swinging a lean leg over the vehicle, he jumped off and headed in her direction. As soon as the kids spied him, they squeeled and kicked hte horses to a trot until they could pull up next to the fence.
"DADDY!" "Uncle Curse!" where the chorus's as he hopped the fence to embrace his wife and give her a kiss.
"Anyone miss me?" he called out.

Sam Winchester - The Blair/Jordan Compound: Winchester Home - October 2014Sam stood and rocked back and forth trying to comfort the baby who had just woken up. It was too late though as he saw Sammie waking up. "Sorry sweetheart, I was hoping you could get some sleep." He smiled at her as she sat up. Then it didn't really matter that the baby was awake because like a lightening bolt Katie came bursting into the room and now there would be no going back to sleep for either of them it appeared.
Sam couldn't help but grin though as he saw his two beautiful girls cuddled up on the bed. Sometimes he still couldn't believe how lucky he was. Despite the state of the world around them he and Sammie had been able to get through it all. The death of Dean had been tough on him, he struggled a lot with that. Then less than a year later the death of Jessie had hit him hard as well. Sam made a point to see his niece and nephew as often as he could. They had fallen to the care of Jess' brother Trey and his wife Shane, the two families had become close because of that shared tragedy.
For Sam, having Sammie and his amazing daughter Mary Katherine is what had gotten him through with his heart and soul intact. Now, with the addition of their son Jonathan Robert he was pretty much on cloud nine. He was happy he had gotten back to the compound in time for the birth and was taking some much needed time off to spend with his family whether anyone else liked it or not.
Cuddling his newborn son close he spoke softly to him as he patted him gently on the back. Giving Sammie another soft smile as she invited them to come join her and Katie on the bed. Sitting on the bed he slid over next to his wife and kissed her cheek. Then leaned over and kissed his daughter on the forehead before he settled in and put one arm around Sammie and pulled her close to him. With Jon resting on his chest and Katie snuggled up next to mommy he sighed with contentment.

Jo Jordan - The Jordan Residence - October 2014 (tag Curse - Openish for people who know them)Jo heard the sounds of the four wheeler approaching and stood up and dusted herself off. Turning around she saw Curse get off the vehicle and start walking her way. She couldn't help the smile that appeared on her face and the feeling of relief that washed over her. It wasn't long before the three older kids spotting him and she could hear their excited voices as they rode over to the fence beside her.
As Curse jumped the fence and encircled Jo in his arms, she wrapped her arms around his neck and melted into his kiss. The gleeful shouts of "Daddy" and "Uncle Curse" from the trio of five year olds turned into expressions of "Eewwww" and Jo heard Jake say something about "Kissing girls is gross."
Reluctantly they had to break away from the kiss all too soon because suddenly they found themselves surrounded by children. Jake, Tessa and Bastian had all jumped down from their horses and were clamoring to get their hugs in. Meanwhile, the three year olds, Ash and Simi had attached themselves to Curse's legs and were clinging to him for dear life. The youngest, Chantelle... or Tellie as Jake had nicknamed her stood looking frustrated and close to tears next to Jo because she couldn't figure out how to get herself in on the hugging of daddy.
Jo bent down and picked Tellie up. Kissing her cheek and stepped in close to Curse. Holding the tot up so she could give her father a kiss and a hug. When Curse asked if he had been missed a resounding "YES!" echoed from the children and Jo smiled. Shaking her head she smirked at him. "I think you have your answer there. I know that I certainly missed you too baby." Leaning into her husband she stretched up on her tip toes and gave him another soft kiss on the lips. Still holding little Tellie in her arms she stood close to her husband as the home coming excitement continued.

... It’s the end of the worlds as we know it The world as Max Blair knew was over and done with, all that was left was a mockery of what he had known just a few years ago. For a long time, the dark haired hunter had strived to be able to consider himself as a hero and now as he looked back, all he could see was his utter failure. So many dead, his mother, Nick, Mel…even little Lydia. He hadn’t been able to save them from the virus. His hand still trembled when he remembered Nick, the eyes of his brother as he looked at him and all that was in him was a maddened rage left by the croatoan virus leaving Max to do the only thing he could for his brother, put a bullet through his brain. As his dark eyes moved to watch at the rear view mirror, the hunter saw the long scar etched on his face, a gift from fighting against the angels that had came after his wife and son years ago. Not only demons and the apocalypse, they had to fend off angels only to strive to live through the end of the world. Armageddon had come and they were the ones that refused to simply roll over and die. Hitting the gas hard, he felt the car shake as he run over another one of the damned zombies. … Back on the fortress that was once his home, the hunter stared at everyone around him with a blank expression until he perceived the blue eyed gaze of a blonde goddess upon him and tried to force a smile. When did it become so difficult to smile? It seemed so forced and unnatural now. Walking over to his wife, his arms moved around her and his lips clashed on hers. The fire and passion were still there, that hadn’t changed, not even apocalypse had the strength to take away the love he felt for that woman. And it was only the sound of a young and mercifully still innocent voice that made him move away from her and look upon two young kids. His son and daughter, along with his wife they were the only things that had him pressing forward and still fighting. Max knew they had lost, it would be only a matter of time now, but he had to keep fighting, for them. Knelling next to his children, he opened his arms and welcomed them to a tight hug. To do his best to make those two believe that there was everything alright in the world. Casting them a smile, he pulled young Simone in his arm and took Bastian’s hand guiding them back to Lexi. “Come on, mommy has something for you kids.” The candy she had picked on the store was a luxury those days, but it did warmed his heart to see the smile on their kids faces.

As kids raced around her yelling and screaming, Shane Coulter rubbed the small of her back and sighed. At times like this, it was actually hard to realize that this wasn't a normal life and that the kids weren't intentionally trying to drive her mad. Sean was teasing Julie unmercifully and Jessie had just grabbed just grabbed ahold of Salem's tail in order to pull herself up to walk. The huge cat had yowled and headed for the door as soon as the little girl had made it to her feet and Shane knew it would be days before he would brave the house again. The brief distraction he'd given her was over as the little girl began to wail for her "kitty" and Shane leaned over to pick her up only to find that Dean had escaped the living room and was banging a pot in the kitchen.
"DEAN WINCHESTER!!! YOU NAUGHTY LITTLE BOY!! HAVEN"T I TOLD YOU TO STAY PUT?" she hollared as she headed in to get the little villian.
Growing desperate, Shane placed Jessie in the play pen and then caught the little devil and plunked him in too. Grabbing a box of animal crackers from the counter, she placed a few in each twin's little snack container and handed them into the babies. Dean immediately sat down and began to gobble them up while Jessie grinned up at her with bright blue eyes. Sean ran into the room just then with Julie toddling after him and the young woman wondered where on earth Jazz was. It was getting harder and harder these days to move around and she couldn't WAIT until this baby finally made his or her appearance.
A quick glance at the clock showed that it was growing late she she headed for the cooler to start supper. As she worked, she frowned and wondered if the patrol was back yet. Since Salem had been there, she guessed not and that meant Trey might not be home to sleep tonight either. The horror of the last few years had made it pertinant that they never dropped their guard for even a minute and Trey took the lives of everyone inside the compound very seriously. He never came home until he was certain that the alarms had been checked and recheck a good dozen times even after everyone was home safe and sound.
It had been a miracle that they had actually been able to establish a community like they had and it had become evident that there were small places just like there own across the world. Other hunters and civilians had thrown together resources and everyone had gone back to the old army radios that worked across any distance to keep in contact. A few of the settlements were gone now but most of them remained. That in itself gave them all reason to hope that some day... This war would be over. As long as they could hold out that long, anyways.
Sighing a bit, Shane absently handed her two little ones a piece of cheese and then felt a twinge in her middle. Rubbing it absently, she peeled the potatoes and tossed them in to the water to boil before getting the chicken out and starting it to fry. Just as she finished putting the last piece in, another twinge hit and took her breath away. Evidently, she'd been doing to much this afternoon.
"JAZZ?? Honey??? Can you come help with the babies?? I think I need to sit down a bit!!" she hollared out before waddling over to sit down at the table.

Jazz Coulter - The Blair/Jordan Compound: Coulter Home - October 2014Jazz sat in the little den/office room watching the security monitors. She had kind of made a habit of it, liking to keep her eyes on things. Like everyone else she worried whenever there was a team out. She was glad that Trey hadn't gone out this time. Her mother needed him, she was going to give birth any day now it seemed.
Sighing quietly she frowned a little as she spotted Ben on one of the cameras. It looked like he was getting ready to go somewhere. She shook her head, knowing he was probably worried about Lexi and itching to go out and look for her. He certainly wasn't the most patient person in the world. Jazz was just thinking she should go out and talk to him when she heard her mother call out to her. Just as she was getting up to go help her mother she saw on one of the monitors a car entering the front gate of the complex. That put a smile on her face, they were back.
Coming out of the back room Jazz wandered through the living room and saw the twins in their playpen. Sean and Julie had plopped themselves on the floor nearby and were playing with some toys. Continuing on into the kitchen she spotted her mother sitting down at the kitchen table. "Hey mom. Good news, the team is back safe and sound. So, dad should be able to come home soon... Ummm... Are you OK? The kids all seem to be settled for the moment you want me to help you with supper?" Jazz went over to the stove and looked at what was cooking. It appeared that her mom had started fried chicken and mashed potatoes. Moving back over to the table she sat in one of the empty chairs. Giving her mother a look. She wasn't looking so good right now.

Ben's cold expression was still there as he turned and walked toward the vehicle. He wasn't one to wait, just as he was more adept to give orders than take them, which was more of a fault than a good trait.
Over the years, Ben had become very trigger-happy. He had often got in trouble in the past few months for leaving out in groups, and not telling Lexi and Max about it. That was his way of doing things though. He'd rather go out, kill some croates, and come back and get yelled at than tell Max and Lexi he was doing it, and them try to tell him no.
But, they had been gone too long. Max, Lexi, and Curse had left out on a supply mission, and were supposed to have returned the day before, and yet still weren't back.
For Ben, waiting was a weak and stupid thing to do. Every hour was more like a day in a world post-apocalypse, where Lucifer ruled and people were either in hiding, or like them, in compounds fighting to keep the evil out. He couldn't wait for them to come back and someone have died, or to learn from another group that their bodies had been found. He was going to do something, he was going to find them, and bring them back.
"What do you want?"
Ben said it before he even appeared. He had gotten used to him by now, he had been coming to the boy for some time. Called himself "watching out for him."
"Where are you going, Benjamin?"
Ben groaned at the speaking of his name, looking up at the angel. Castiel, or Cas as Ben called him. He had watched out for him since Ben was a kid, since the night he had been attacked by vampires. Ben hadn't told anyone about him, though, except Jazz. They had become really close over the years, and he knew he could trust her not to tell, though she probably felt iffy about it too. Angels weren't to be trusted anymore than demons in this day, because often, the ones people heard about were AFTER the people. Ben had witnessed them attack them at one time. It had been horrible. They had come to kill Lexi and Bastian, the people he considered, now at least, his mom and his baby brother. Max had saved them though, fought them back. They had all gotten away.
Castiel was different though. He was on their side, Ben trusted that, and trusted him, though he knew no one else would.
"I've told you, it's BEN, Cas. And I'm going to find them. Don't even try that "It's too dangerous" shit. I can handle myself, and if things get too hairy, I'm pretty sure I should be able to count on you to step in, right?" Ben asked the scruffy-looking angel, looking into the hummer at him.
Castiel looked a lot different. The longer he had been fallen, the more human looking he'd become, and the more he had seemed human. Ben liked that. The old him had been too stuffy.
"Well, I would help, but you should not travel alone. You would be a highly desirable prize for a demon, Benja... Ben. Your connections make you hated just as much as your hunting does." Ben rolled his eyes at that. None of that scared him. Just meant more evil sons of bitches for him to kill and send screaming to the pits where they belonged. "Doesn't look like I need to worry about you though."
Ben looked up, confused at that statement, but the angel had already vanished. Ben groaned and cursed under his breath, but hearing a vehicle behind him, turned around, feeling relief when he saw his adopted parents and friend in the truck. He felt that urge to run to them as they got out of the vehicle, but he didn't. His cold nature kept him in his place as the other kids ran to greet them.
He waited back, locking the hummer back up and grabbing his bags out, sitting them on the ground. He was tempted to go talk to them, but in the end, he figured it would just become needless emotional stuff, which he didn't want. Instead, he threw his bag over his shoulder, picking up the other, and turned, walking towards them, but only to get to the house.

Heaven in Hell. That was what this place was. Every mission out was another step to living beyond the nightmare.
As they threw everything out of the Hummer that they had retrieved, Lexi rubbed the back of her neck and then looked over at her husband. Feeling her eyes, her handsome warrior approached and gave her a hard kiss that still managed to make her heart soar. It was one of the things she counted on to get through each and every day. WHen he finally pulled away and said something about getting the kids, she nodded and looked beyond him to see Ben heading in their direction.
Leaving the bounty to be divided up and delivered, the pretty blond put herself in his path and waited until her young son looked up at her. Seeing the coldness in his eyes, she sighed and against cursed the war that had put the savage bloodlust in his eyes. He was far to young to be so bitter but life like this took its effect on everyone. Ben hadn't been a child in many years now. Ever since that fateful day that the angels had come for Sebastian and herself. Inwardly flinching at that memory, she eyed the young man and then reached into her coat pocket. Pulling out a stack of comic magazines, she said.
"Hey there, kiddo.... I brought you something back..... While we were out, we had to hide in an old comic store... THought you might enjoy some light reading... I think there is everything from Xmen to Batman in here..."
Holding them out, she waited for him to take them but held on to them before letting him have them. She could see the strain of worry on his young features and she longed to wrap him in her arms but she didn't think she could handle the rejection if he shook her off. Every day she felt as if she were losing a him to the darkness and every time he left the compound she wondered if this would be the time she would mourn for a child who was as much hers as Bastian or Simi.
"I missed you out there.... Everything Ok?"
From the corner of her eye, she saw Max approaching with Simi and Bastian and reached into her pocket yet again. Pulling out a couple PEZ despensers, she held them out to Ben and tilted her head.
"You wanna give these to your siblings?? You'll be their hero forever if you do...."
