June had arrived and with it the humid heat of Louisanna. Lexi found herself taking shower after cool shower in hopes of relieving the worst of it and slipping into loose, cotton wove sundresses that were made for women in her condition. Although she had another 2 months to go, her tummy was increasing almost daily and Lexi couldn't wait for her baby's arrival. She hated being so clumsy and felt awkward to say the least. Max teased her unmercifully and Curse had taken to making little noises whenever she entered a room. For that alone, the young huntress would have murdered him if not for Jo's state of mind. She'd really like to see him try that with HER when the time came. Jo would scalp him for sure!
Pulling her long blond locks up into a ponytail, Lexi left her bathroom and padded down the stairs towards the kitchen. Feeling restless, she hoped Betsy would have something she could do but was soon disappointed when the older woman shooed her out and told her to go take a nap. Napping seemed to be the activity that took up most of her time these days but she wasn't tired. In fact, she was feeling more energetic today that she had in a long time.
Planting her hands on her hips, she looked around and sighed. Everything in the house was run so efficently, there didn't seem to be any need for her. Frowning, she headed towards the baby's room and peeked inside. Suddenly, inspiration hit! First though, she needed to find her husband and see if he could take an afternoon off. She was in the mood to buy baby furniture.

In the library Max looked at the numbers his brother had sent him by fax and sighed. He really wasn’t a desk jockey like Nick, wasn’t cut for that work and he had no idea why his brother insisted to keep sending the work his way. Besides, Nicholas wouldn’t get into anything half-cocked and already had everything checked and rechecked to perfection so why really even bother? It was obvious that this particular deal would represent a few more millions for Blair Enterprises and truth be told while Max enjoyed having the money, he really didn’t cared much for gaining more.
So closing the folder before him, he took a stroll through the house and found Betsy arguing with the cook about something, probably about dinner. Instead, he concentrated on the fresh batch of baked chocolate cookies and snatched one. Just as he thought he had been extra sneaky, he heard Betsy’s voice. He could swear the woman had ninja skills or something, he had never seen someone so large move so silently.
“What you’re doing stealing cookies on my kitchen boy? Those are for Jo, it seems those are the only thing the poor girl can keep down these times.”
Turning around, he gave her an innocent look. “Sorry Betsy, those look so great I couldn’t resist.”
“Hmpf! Just don’t let me get you stealing any more cookies mister Blair.”
“Yes ma’am,” he replied to her with a smile to which she just shrugged and smiled back. She was strict, but had a heart of gold. She was the housekeeper, but she treated Max as if she was his mother and he loved her as such.
Leaving the kitchen, he let her and the cook to continue their little discussion and searched for his pregnant wife. She was as big as a house those days, so it shouldn’t be hard to find her. He laughed to himself knowing she would kill him if she was to hear his thoughts right then.

JoJo had gone outside for a walk to get some fresh air. She felt like she had been cooped up in that bedroom for ages. Still battling major morning sickness and it was starting to wear on her. It was starting to wear on Curse as well she could tell. He still had problems whenever she was getting sick and the worried look on his face when he'd come back to check on her always made her heart hurt. She did her best to try and keep herself from looking to tired or haggard but she was suspecting that wasn't working to well. So, she had decided to go outside. Let the sun and air hopefully refresh her and maybe put some color back in her skin.
After taking some time to sit in a lounge chair in the sun and a short walk around the gardens she headed back to the house. Coming in through the kitchen door. Betsy and the cook were there. Jo could smell the chocolate and it brought a smile to her face. Curse had brought her a couple cookies before and Jo had managed to keep them down. Betsy immediately ushered her over to the plate and told her to take as many as she wanted. Jo grinned back at the woman and took a couple of the fresh baked cookies.
Thanking Betsy for the cookies Jo wandered out of the kitchen and looked around the house. It all seemed so quiet. She wondered where everyone was. Heading up the stairs she thought she might go lay down again for awhile if no one was around. As she got to the top of the stairs she thought she heard someone down the hall. She could see the door open to the room that would soon be the nursery for Lexi and Max's baby. Walking down the hall nibbling on one of the cookies she could see Lexi standing just inside the door. "Heya Lexi... Not to much longer now for you huh? Are you excited?" Jo smiled and looked around the room. Right now it seemed like it would be forever before she would be even thinking about a room for the baby. Jo had almost seven months still to wait, that was about as far along as Lexi already was. That seemed like a strange kind of symmetry there.

Starting a bit from the sudden sound of anothers voice, Lexi looked up and grinned. Her hand absentmindedly rubbed her tummy and she fairly glowed with happiness.
"Not long now...Although it can't come soon enough for me. I have to admit... I'm anxious to get back to my own self. I'm beginning to feel like a beached whale these days. I can't even get out of bed without Max's help it seems." she said with a small laugh. "How about you? Feeling any better? Betsy said you were still having trouble keeping anything down. If you like, she can give you some old midwife stuff that will help with that. Betsy's delivered a few babies in her time and she only became a housekeeper when Max bought this place."
Wobbling a bit, the blond turned towards the other woman and made for the hall. Although she was in her last trimester of pregnancy, she was so slender that it almost looked as if she carried a basketball under her shirt. Unused to the bulk, the young witch eased through the doorway and then looped an arm through Jos.
"I was just about to go find Max... I want to do some baby shopping and I'm going to need so muscle to carry everything. Betsy said there is an awesome furniture store with cribs and such in the French Quarter so I thought today might be the perfect day to get some of that out of the way. We left most of our other stuff in Oklahoma and Max promised me we could buy a set just for here."
The impish expression on her face gave evidence to her glee at this promise and promised that she was going to take full advantage of it.
"I think Max and Curse were looking over some properties earlier too. If you find something you like on our trip.. we could always store it until you guys buy a place and get things set up!"

Coming in from his run, Curse made quick work of showering and then heading out to find his wife. The fact that she hadn't been lying in bed encouraged him and he hoped that was a clue that she was feeling better. The last couple weeks had worried him to an extreme with her sickness and she'd lost some weight on top of it. Knowing that most women suffered from a bit of morning sickness, Curse was nonetheless a bit frantic to find some way to help her. However, nothing he seemed to do helped and he'd finally just left her alone to rest.
Heading for the kitchen first, he no sooner turned down the hall when he ran into Max. Grinning a bit, he nodded hello and came to rest in his tracks.
"Hey man... Have you seen the ladies? Jo isn't in our room.... I'm hoping that means she is up and about? I'd really like to show her those properties we found this morning. Might make her feel better to have her own place."

The young dark haired man took a bite of the cookie on his hand. Betsy was quite a cook, she had him hooked on her cookies a long time ago.
As he searched for his wife, the blonde he found standing before him surely wasn’t the blonde goddess he was searching for and surely wasn’t his type. Even so that Lexi and Curse bumped heads more than a few times, Max didn’t think that the guy was all that bad. Not mister charming and could be somewhat annoying at certain times, but other than that appeared to be a nice enough guy.
Smiling back to him as he asked about Jo, Max shook his head. “I didn’t see her. However Betsy just got a new batch of cookies out so this might be what drove out of her bed…” he laughed lightly remembering the look on Betsy’s face when he snatched a cookie.
“I was just looking for my pregnant blondie, since they are both missing they are probably together talking about big bellies and babies…and diapers,” he shrugged about that last one, something he really wasn’t looking forward.
“Say Curse, have you practiced changing diapers already?” A sly smirk formed on him at the face Curse made to his question. “Come on man, we have to reveal the mystery of the missing pregnant blondes.” He said with a playful smirk.

JoJo thought the sound of doing some shopping sounded good. She was a little bit leery about the idea, since a nice juicy cheeseburger sounded good too but she knew it wouldn't stay down in her stomach. None the less she looked forward to getting out again. Shopping was good, something to keep her busy.
Smiling as Lexi linked her arm through her's and talked about finding Max for the heavy lifting. Jo brightened even more when Lexi mentioned that Curse and Max had been out looking at properties earlier.
Jo was looking forward to finding a house. Not that she minded having Lexi around or Betsy and the cook for that matter but she never had a real place of her own before. It was daunting but exciting at the same time. If she was going to be grounded and settled down in one place it would be good to have a nice place to do it.

Smiling a bit, Lexi grinned and lead the way down the wide mahogany staircase. The sound of male voices drifted up to her and as they approached the bottom, the blond peeked over the railing to see Max and Curse coming from the kitchen area. Her expression was impish as she smiled at her husband and then elbowed Jo lightly as she said.
"OH!!! Just the two men we have been looking for...... Jo and I have decided its time to do some shpping and we need you boys' strong arms to help out. Besides that, Jo isn't up to driving and I really don't feel like getting stuck behind the steering wheel again! These days, its much simpler to let Max be my hero and drive me wherever I need to go!"
Beeming an overly bright smile upon the two men, Lexi finished the last few steps and then slipped over to wrap an arm around the dark haired mans waist. Her eyes glinted merrily as she pressed a kiss to his lips and practically dared him to deny her what she wanted. If he did, he was going to be in BIG trouble and he KNEW it! The mischievous set to her grin was pure trouble.

At Max's mention of diapers, Curse felt his face pale again and he gulped. That was DEFINITELY one of the things he WASN"T looking forward to when the baby did finally arrive.
"Man... I thought I'd just hollar at you by that time. You outta be a pro at it by then, hadn't you??"he said, hurrying to hide his sudden unease. "I think a nanny might actually be a good idea... that way we can just hand off that unpleasant duty to someone who is hired for that purpose!"
Grinning a bit, the blond haired hunter nodded when Max said that maybe they should find their missing wives. Eyeing the man's cookie, however, he held up a finger and slipped into the kitchen to nab one himself. Luckily, Betsy only chuckled at him and shook her head as his rear dissappeared back into the hall with Max. Waving the other man forth, the blond signaled his readiness to start the search.
As it turned out, however, they didn't have to go far to find the two ladies navigating the huge staircase of the old plantation style house. Lexi had that look on her face that spelled out trouble and Curse immediately looked to Jo to see what her take on things was. She looked a bit better than normal lately and seemed to have some color in her face. Letting a wide smile spread over his own, the handsome hunter went to the foot of the stairs and gave his wife a kiss as she hit the final step. Ignoring the words of the witch, he whispered in his wifes ear.
"You doing all right? The wicked witch isn't tiring you out is she? I've got some plans for you this afternoon. Max and I found some interesting pieces of property that I was hoping we might be able to take a look at..... That is.. If you feel up to it? "

Max shivered slightly when Curse told him he was going to turn into a pro at diaper changing. There were times he could hardly believe he was going to be a father and diaper changing didn’t sound pleasant at all. In all truth he was scared as hell, not just by the diaper changing, but about how well he would be able to raise a kid. He had no idea how to be a parent and he hoped he wouldn’t screw everything up.
He then watched as Curse sneaked into the kitchen and stole a cookie, leaving Betsy chuckling. What, she would complain when it was him stealing those? He raised a brow at her, and just shook his head allowing a fond smile to show on his features.
Raising his head to face the source of the voice he heard up the stairs, he found the wobbling goddess, a big belly denoting the baby inside her and even then she was incredibly gorgeous. That’s how Max knew he was completely smitten, thinking a pregnant woman was the most beautiful woman he had ever settled his eyes upon.
Placing an arm around his wife’s waits as he did so as well, he returned her kiss and smiled. “Why is it that every time you call me your hero those days I end up having to carry stuff, drive, and go out hunting for food?” he teased her. Lexi was waiting his child and he wanted to make sure she had everything she needed, but that didn’t meant he wasn’t going to tease her about it and occasionally drag his feet just for fun.
Shaking his head when Curse called Lexi a wicked witch, he smirked at the man before speaking in a playful voice. “Look out Curse, call my gorgeous wife a wicked witch and she might turn you into a hideous creature…ops, too late!”
Turning back to his wife, he winked at her. “And where shall your hero take you today, my goddess?”

JoJo went along with Lexi heading back downstairs.Making their way to the bottom they could hear the voices coming from below them. Jo could tell it was Curse and Max talking and it brought a smile to her face. It always made her feel better seeing her husband. Strange as it may have seemed to some, he made her happy. They had only been married three and a half months, the same amount of time as Max and Lexi, since they got married on the same day. The big difference was that was also the day Jo met Curse as well.
Grinning at Curse as Lexi explained about the shopping trip. She shrugged her shoulders and then returned the kiss her husband gave her as he met her at the bottom step. Curse was smiling at her but his voice had that tone of concern when he whispered to her. Jo nodded and tried to reassure him she was fine as she spoke quietly to him. "Yes, I'm up to it. It'll do me good to get out more. I'm tired of feeling like an invalid. Up an moving around has got to be better for me and I definitely want to see the properties with you. I can't wait to go see them." Jo leaned into her husband a bit and wrapped her arms around his middle. Her head rested on his shoulder as Max ribbed Curse about calling Lexi a wicked witch. She rolled her eyes though at Max's joke about Lexi turning Curse into something hideous. "I think we should get a move on here people because WE have property to see later. And I think you would probably like it a lot if we were out of your hair by the time the baby comes. So the faster we find something and let you have your house back to yourselves." What Jo said was true and she was sure that Lexi and Max were looking forward to getting ready for their baby with out an extra couple hanging around. But, Jo was really looking forward to she and Curse having their own place. They hadn't really had a place to themselves. Staying in hotels and motels on the road, in Lexi and Max's guest house in Oklahoma and now staying in a guest bedroom here in New Orleans.
Jo wanted to be able to curl up with her husband on their own couch, in their own living room, watching their own TV. Hell, she even wanted to cook him supper. Most people didn't know she could cook, but it was something her mother taught her how to do. Maybe she could finally put it to good use. The thought energized her and she straightened up. "Well, come on now. Let's GO!!!" Grabbing Curse's hand she started tugging on it playfully. She was definitely ready to go.

Laughing at Max's dig at the sandy haired man, Lexi shook her head and squeezed him tighter. She was sometimes amazed at how much she loved this man and at how suddenly he had entered her life. Giving him a smile, the young witch turned back to hear Jo's words and nodded in agreement. Taking her own husbands hand, she pulled him towards the garage and the shiny black Hummer that awaited them. Grinning wickedly at the vehicle, she took in his expression of suprise and then winked at Jo. Pulling out a set of keys from her pocket, she dangled them in front of the stunned mans face and said. "Happy Father to Be, Handsome. I know how you said you didn't even want to think about any minivan. I trust this will fit your more "Manly" idea of what a parent should drive?" For the past couple months, the couple had been debating getting a more family friendly vehicle but neither one liked the idea of a minivan. Lexi didn't particularly like the idea of the "Soccer Mom" look and Max wasn't any more fond of driving one of those things around either. Although the cars would be fine for now, with their growing family and the fact that they constantly seemed to have company, a bigger more passenger friendly SUV seemed more legit. As Max gazed at the Hummer, the blond waited with baited breath before deciding he liked it. Heading around the the passenger side, Lexi opened the door and then eyed the height she would have to climb to get in and sighed. Casting a glance back over her shoulder she continued. "However, your going to have to help me in this beast. There is NO way i'm getting into it with this baby in the way!"

Grinning like a fool, Curse let his wife pull him along and shook his head. She was definitely feeling better with that much energy. As they stepped into the garage, he noticed the big, fancy black Hummer and frowned. Looking at Jo, he whispered.
"That wasn't here yesterday was it? I swear I would have noticed something like that in the garage... I would have hit Max up to borrow it."
Before he could continue, however, Lexi was waving keys in Max's face and Curse could read the amusement on her face as she watched her husbands face. A grin spread over his own face as he glanced from the Hummer to the blond and back. Then, turning his gaze back to his wife, he smirked.
"I do believe I might have to take back everything I ever said about the witch. THAT..... Proves that maybe she ain't as bad as I thought. When you going to do something for me like that, baby girl?"

Being guided by his wife’s hand, Max shook his head and grinned as he was dragged to the garage. Not that he was looking forward to shopping, he was quite aware of how women were with shopping and he expected a long ordeal. No, he was grinning because of that smile in the lips of the woman he loved so much, of the happiness he felt for having her into his life.
However when they arrived at the garage, his grim faded and a look of complete surprise stole into his features. For a long moment all he could do was to stand there, speechless until Lexi dangled the keys in front of him with the most wicked smile he had ever seen on her.
"Happy Father to Be, Handsome. I know how you said you didn't even want to think about any minivan. I trust this will fit your more "Manly" idea of what a parent should drive?"
He raised a brow and stared at her. He had told Lexi a thousand times already that there was no chance in hell he wasn’t going to drive a minivan. What was wrong of his favorite car, the red and black Buggati Veyron? Though she did have a point that they needed something more…passenger friendly for their still unborn kid. While it wasn’t quite the sports cars that he preferred to drive, it was surely something he could commit to.
Shaking his head, he took the keys she handled to him and smiled. “Oh, so now you’re Alexis Blair, the sneaky goddess.”
He watched her as she moved to the passenger door and laughed when she told him she would need his help to get into the car. With a devious smirk on his face, he walked to her aid and sighed. “Somehow I knew I was going to end up having to lift heavy weight…”
Yeah, he knew Lexi was going to kill him for that little joke.

JoJo's eyes popped with a bit of shock as she watched what had obviously been a surprise gift from Lexi to Max. As they stood in the garage looking at the shiny new vehicle. All Jo could do was shake her head as Curse whispered to her about that not being there yesterday. It most certainly was not there yesterday.
Standing there slightly dumbfounded still holding Curse's hand. Jo suddenly felt a little out of her element. She was not used to this. It was one thing when Curse told her he had money and talking about buying a house, even buying a bar. It was quite something else to even think about the ability to surprise her husband with a gift as extravagant as this. She was still in a daze as she heard her husband's voice again. "I do believe I might have to take back everything I ever said about the witch. THAT..... Proves that maybe she ain't as bad as I thought. When you going to do something for me like that, baby girl?" Jo was still staring at the car and watching Max and Lexi's reaction. Then another thought struck her as she remembered something. Curse had given her a black American Express card. It had her own name on it and everything. At the time he had mentioned it didn't have a limit on it but apparently that fact hadn't really registered. She gripped her bag a little tighter as she thought about it. Knowing that the card was inside, in her wallet, she had never even used it.
Turning to look at Curse she tilted her head. Stuttering a bit as she tried to speak. Realizing she was standing there with her mouth still partially hanging open in amazement. Finding her voice she spoke softly to Curse. "Me? Buy a car? You mean I could actually DO THAT?" Still trying to process the information she stared at her husband. Not really noticing she practically had a death grip on his hand now. She blinked her eyes a few times and took a deep breath. "I think we should get in the car now so I can sit down. I suddenly feel a little lightheaded."
