Before we begin with the rules, there are a few things we’d like to get out of the way at the very beginning. These rules are a BINDING factor in your relationship with the administrators and players of this board. The topics discussed here are NOT up for debate and if you should choose to play here, you will be expected to follow them carefully and respect each other. This is not stated to sound mean or controlling but to avoid any future conflicts over how the rules apply to each and every player and how things will be carried out. We, as the staff, will make every attempt to be fair and impartial but our word is FINAL. By creating an account, you are signifying your intent to follow our guidelines and the desire to be involved with our community. Any failure to do so will lead to appropriate actions on our part and could lead to restrictions or even banning.
Disclaimer: Rules are rules... many rules are going to be the same from site to site. These are our rules. If anything seems similar to anything on someone else's site it is because there are only so many ways you can say; Respect your fellow RP'ers. No Flaming. No Spam. Etc. So... On with the rules of the site.
Rules are a pain in the ass to be honest. However, basic rules are a necessary evil. The below list of rules is not all inclusive. The admins of the site have the right to stop and address anything they see fit that could be detrimental to the site, the members, and/or the general role playing on the forum.
The admins on the site are here to keep the site running smoothly, what they say goes. Please do not argue with them and do not try to pit them against each other. If you can not accept the rules and these terms then don't sign up.
1. Play nice. No spamming, flaming, OOC name calling, etc.
2. Discrimination will not be tolerated. Be it race, sex, sexual orientation, political views, religious beliefs or what have you. Leave it at the door when you come in to play.
3. This forum is geared mostly toward adults but for the time being we are not putting an age limit on it. However, according to Proboards TOS you must be 13 so we must abide by that.
4. Swearing if fine. It's fun even. If you are offended easily by swearing this might not be the right place for you.
5. Mature themes, occasionally there will be some mature threads going on. Including violence, blood, and sexual situations. The violence you can't really get around. After all this is a site for Supernatural and what we do is hunt and kill things. So if you have a problem with that. Might not be for you. As far as steamy romance and such. We will try to mark things as appropriate and you can avoid them if you wish.
6. Please use the form provided to apply for your character. It will not be considered otherwise. Also, if you have a character idea that you don't see listed, please PM the admin with your idea BEFORE starting your application. We will not be held at fault for turning down an application that is made without our knowledge of the players intent.
7. You must use a celebrity or human form for your played by. What we mean is NO anime, NO cartoons, NO drawings, etc. All characters need to have at least an avatar, signature is optional. We like to put a face to a character. Also we do not do animals here so your character must take human form of some kind. Like a werewolf is fine, as they shift from human to werewolf form. Any questions about this, please ask.
A few other rules regarding PB claims!
1.) After you have chosen a claim, generally speaking, NO CHANGES WILL BE ALLOWED WITHOUT PRIOR OK FROM AN ADMIN! NO EXCEPTIONS!
2.) The only changes allowed will be to unestablished characters who have had little to no play time and are not involved in any storylines that might involve another characters view of the character. ( For example, a change that might effect how another player would have reacted to a romance with said character. Whether we all want to admit it or not... It is an issue for interactions between characters.) The only out of this rule is if the other character has been forewarned and is OK with the change!
8. Multiple characters are allowed but you must create a separate account for each one and a separate application for each one using the appropriate account.
9. If you apply for a canon character you will have a trial period. Then the admins will determine if you can keep the canon. If you are deemed suited to a canon you MUST post at least twice a week or have talked to an admin about your circumstances. Canons are a very important part of the site and we will expect more from you than original characters. If you can not maintain the 2 post a week requirement, the we ask that you not apply for a canon. Any away's posted will be good for 2 weeks but will be reevaluated at the end of that time. Real life is understandable but by taking a canon we also feel that you have made a commitment to the site. One warning will be sent out if we feel you aren't meeting the requirements and after that it will be the admins decision whether to allow you to keep the character or if it will be taken away. This is only fair to other site members and people who would like to play with canons. (Please keep in mind that by posts... We mean RPG posts. These do NOT include game, graphic request, or plot request posts. These are storyline posts made to further plotlines.)
10. Do not argue with the staff.
11. If you have a problem, bring it up to the staff via PM please. Do not address problems in the Cbox. Any problems or arguments started in the cbox will get you BANNED. We will NOT tolerate it and we will not give warnings because we feel this is common sense.
12. We will be trying to stay as true as possible to the ideals and nature of the show. This is not to say that we will be rigid and that we won't except other ideas. However, don't go overboard. If you have an idea bring it to a staff member or post it in the ideas section. Since we are AU post fourth season, our site wide plots WILL vary from the fifth season show and we will make allowances for that.
13. God modding - we understand that some things are necessary but if we find excessive god modding or we receive a complaint we will address it. (If you don't know what this is please ask)
14. No chat speak in the role playing boards. (If you don't know what this is please ask)
15. Signatures should be no wider than 500 px and no taller than 300 px. So a 500 x 200 sig is fine. a 600 x 100 is NOT.
16. This is basically an intermediate level RP. For now there are not minimum post limits but we do not want to see a bunch of short posts. Posts need to be descriptive and of good quality. If we see a problem in this area, we may implement more stringent rules about this. As long as you are making an effort to post something of quality we are all good. If you are having problems please contact a staff member and we will be happy to help you if you need/want it.
17. Spelling counts. There is a spell checker on proboards, use it. We are all prone to spelling errors and typos and to using the wrong word instead of the one we intended, like deer instead of dear. But, when a post is riddled with errors there is a difference. Please review your reply before posting it. We don't expect anyone to be perfect because we certainly are not ourselves, but we do expect you to put forth the effort. In fact you may find some errors within these rules. I'll be happy to correct them if they are pointed out to me.
18. Grammar/substance also counts. Please make sure your posts make sense. A couple things to note here. For some people on the site English may be a second language. There are going to be some word usage issues sometimes with people from other countries. This is not what we mean by using correct grammar. In fact, most people who are from other countries write way better than I do so that isn't the issue. Things that are important in RP'ing are using quotes and making sure you distinguish who is doing the talking if you have your character talk and also to quote someone else in the thread.
Use the proper punctuation, spacing in between sentences and paragraphs so that your post is easy to read. Don't use excessive slang and such in your posts, unless it is something your character is saying and that is how your character speaks.
For example, Sam and Dean say dude a lot. So they may use that term when they are speaking... But when you are writing the narrative part of your post, it's not really appropriate to say dude all the time. The password is reaper. (If you don't understand what we're saying, please ask. We're happy to help.)
19. Please use common sense. This is a game but it is also something that you have entered into with the expectation that you will follow through with your posting and plots. We all know that life can be hectic sometimes but please don't leave people hanging. Everyone has stuff going on in their lives. There are people who are husbands/wives, mothers/fathers and on top of that they work full-time and may even go to school. It's not that much to ask that you keep up too. If you have a problem in this area, please let us know, just don't leave people hanging with out telling us.
20. All new players will have a 2 week grace period to make a character and be accepted. If they have not done so by then, the account will be DELETED! We want to keep our numbers down to PLAYING characters. If a player comes back after that time and wants to still join, they can make another account but they have ONE week from that point to make a character. If that is not done, the account will once again be deleted and they will have to speak with an admin before being allowed a third chance. The only exception to this rule will be if the character registered belongs to an ACTIVE member already and they have requested a bit more time.
21. New members MUST apply for a regular character before being allowed to apply for a powerful character. This is to give us a taste of how you role play and conduct yourself. Due to problems in the past, we feel this is a safe guard for other players and its not negotiable unless one of the staff is familiar with said player.
22. Last but not least this is for FUN. So please try to have fun but don't ruin other peoples fun in the process. Respect all the members of this forum. Listen to the staff when they tell you something and everyone should be just fine.
We reserve the right to add/modify/delete rules as we see fit and possibly without warning.
