Dakota linked her arm in Caleb’s and led him outside and away from the Murder Mystery festivities the hotel had organised, to anyone else it would just look like a young couple taking a romantic moonlight stroll but Dakota had something much more nefarious in mind for them as she walked around toward the back of the hotel where it was secluded and private. Her mind drifted off mission for a moment as she couldn’t help but think how romantic and private it was out here, it was a warm night and the pond in the middle of the rose garden looked inviting for a dip, Dakota had always loved the water but she needed to concentrate on her mission and not the fantasies she had of making out with Caleb in the cool water of the moonlight pond, besides the idea of the goldfish inhabiting it, nibbling on her butt while she was trying to be romantic suddenly put her off.
” Now my research uncovered that the very first case of the apparent Murder/ Suicide curse was in fact, Charles and Catherine Dupree, the son and daughter in-law of the original owners of the hotel and something else interesting the date the murder/suicides happen on exactly every 50 years is the same as their wedding anniversary and the date the day they died. Apparently Mr Dupree was having an affair with one of the maids, Mrs Dupree went nuts after discovering the two of them together, stabbed him in their bedroom and then threw herself off the balcony. She died of a broken neck. Every death since has happened in exactly the same way, wife goes nuts stabs the husband then throws herself off a balcony. Never in the same room though, that’s the only inconsistency. But since their deaths the Dupree’s bedroom has been kept as a shrine by the family, the room is never rented out and is off limits to the public. Which is exactly what we are doing here, I want to get in and take a look around see what we can dig up but we can’t do that from inside with all the staff buzzing around we wouldn’t get anywhere near it but out here, well as you can see that’s a completely different matter”
She released Caleb’s arm and gestured around, the back garden was completely empty and the only light that shone was from the moon. Her eyes wandered upwards as she pointed toward a balcony on the fourth floor, a vine covered trellis led from the ground up along side the balcony that was to be their destination. ”So, what do you say, up for a little action. You’re not afraid of heights are you? “ she asked teasing him slightly.
There was only one problem now that faced Dakota, ”Ar Crap” she said, smacking her hand against her forehead ” I can’t climb up there in this freakin dress, it must be worth a small fortune,” the delicately hand beaded reproduction dress she wore belonged to the hotels costume department and was in deed worth many hundreds of dollars and would be easily snagged on the trellis and vines as she climbed. There was only one option, she had to take it off, it was lucky then that she’d warn a black silk slip underneath and really it was no big deal, she tried to reassure herself the slip covered almost as much as the dress but then the dress didn’t really cover that much to begin with and the slip was much more figure hugging. Dakota grimaced slightly but decided there was only one course of action, as she didn’t have any money to pay for the dress if it became snagged and damaged. She twisted her arm around behind her and began to fidget until she finally found the zip and finally slipped out of the dress. She tried not to look at Caleb as she stood there in her delicate black silk slip that barely skimmed the top of her thighs, she quickly turned the beaded dress inside out and rolled it up into a small parcel before handed it to Caleb to tuck inside his jacket for safe keeping.
”Um, do you mind holding onto this for me, I’m kinda outta places to stash it” she said flippantly still too embarrassed to look him directly in the face. After quickly handing him the dress she darted over toward the trellis. Dakota had always been one to take the lead, even though she could be cautious in a dangerous situation and think things through when it came to simpler non life threatening situations she sometimes over looked the most basic of necessities or common sense, something she didn’t take into consideration when she took the lead as she latched onto the trellis first and began to climb up toward the balcony, completely forgetting the fact she was wearing a slip. She looked back at Caleb, ”Well don’t just stand there, get your ass up here before someone comes along and catches us.” Dakota resumed her climbing, so consumed with her mission and the hunt that she was still oblivious to fact her black silk panties were on display for all below, which in this particular case, fortunate or not was only Caleb....
Once she reached the fourth floor balcony to the Dupree's room she climbed over the railing and waited for Caleb to join her.

Ghosts, great…how was he supposed to be kicking their ethereal butts? Regardless it seemed like Dakota had the right idea of where to start, if the room was a shrine of sorts to the deceased it probably was the best place to start looking for remains to burn down…a pity since Caleb was so looking forward to some ass kicking.
And not to say Dakota had him confused. He had been trying to catch her attention for a while, but she always seemed oblivious to his attempts or even sarcastic about it…and just a few moments ago when he was about to give up on her that she had showed some real interest. Caleb was still unsure if he should rip off her head for taking so long or if he should just forget about stupid civilized manners and just pull her close and kiss her. And…well, he wouldn’t stab Blair with her own phone for sending that message right then, but he would if it was someone else…talk about bad timing.
He was just about to suggest her that he could turn into a wolf and attract attention away from the room so she could sneak in easily, but suddenly she was slipping out of her dress and climbing the vines. Well, if that’s the way she preferred to get there…she wasn’t going to hear complaints from him.
Neither he did complain, but instead smirked as he caught a sight that was worth her teasing. He couldn’t quite care if anyone walked by, this was a sight that he wasn’t going to waste and so he lingered for a moment before climbing after her when she reached the balcony, with his were agility it didn’t take long for him to catch up.
“So this is the place where we kick some ethereal butt, huh? I have to say you look impressive as far as climbing vines go,” he said with a smirk, “but leave this next part to a professional alright?”
Sniffing the air as he entered the darkened room, he searched for any sign of a lingering scent, trying to locate whatever was keeping the DuPree’s ‘death echo’ to be spreading in a vicious circle.

As Dakota waited for Caleb to join her on the balcony she kept an eye out for anyone below but fortunately for them staff and guests alike were too busy engrossed in their murder mystery evening, now heavily underway inside the hotel. Once Caleb had started climbing it hadn’t taken him long to make his way up the trellis on the side of the building but she couldn’t figure out why he’d lingered so long first, maybe he was afraid of heights?
“So this is the place where we kick some ethereal butt, huh? I have to say you look impressive as far as climbing vines go,” he said with a smirk as he finally reached Dakota’s position on the balcony. A confused look crossed Dakota’s face for a moment before it finally dawned on her just what he meant and her cheeks flushed slightly but she tried desperately to quell both her embarrassment and her anger, preferring instead to ignore the fact he’d let her know he’d just seen her panties. “but leave this next part to a professional alright?”he said as he continued to speak before making his way over toward the French doors that led into the Dupree’s bedroom and continued on in.
”Professional, my ass!!! I guess modesty isn’t one of your talents?” Dakota swore under her breath as she quickly followed but once inside the room they split up and each went their separate ways as they searched for anything that might help them in their quest. She glanced back at Caleb and caught sight of him sniffing the air. Ok, so she had to admit he did have some special skills that could come in handy, she just wouldn’t admit it to him!!
The room had been kept as a shrine to the couple and Dakota began to search through some of their person affects. She’d resisted putting on the light encase it was seen from outside or the light shone under the door and into the hallway and attracted unwanted attention. The moonlight that shone through the French doors flooded the room with enough natural light to make their way around and Dakota wandered over to the ornate dressing table near the bed and began to search.
The bedroom was large and grand even more so than the one that she and Caleb were staying in, the one they had to spend the night in together…..alone….all night. Dakota had just picked up a small lead light crystal trinket box, her hand began to shake when she thought about spending the night with him and she almost dropped the lid on the little trinket box but managed to catch it just in time. She needed to keep her mind on what they were doing now and try not to think of ….later. As she carefully set the little trinket box back into place she spied a beautiful old leather-bound book. Dakota had a fondness of books and she couldn’t resist picking it up, besides they were here to check out everything weren’t they? She carefully picked up the old book and turned into the moonlight to read it. The name Catherine Dupree was embossed in gold lettering on the front and as she opened it, she saw that the words inside were hand written in ink, it was Mrs Dupree’s diary.
”Caleb, quick come here. I think I found something!”

Shaking his head at Dakota’s question, Caleb replied with a nonchalantly ‘no’ and turned to look around the room. Being amongst the ‘cursed’ had its perks, and he didn’t actually see it as a curse. For all the savagery inside of him, he only saw himself as slightly different from the rest of mankind…no better nor worse.
It was a big room, all fancy and stuff, way beyond needed. He couldn’t quite picture why someone would spend money and effort to get a nice room and turn it into a shrine to the deceased. For him, a simple grave on the ground would be enough…but maybe it was just him that never cared for luxury or status.
His enhance olfactory instincts caught up something in the room, but it wasn’t easy to pick out in the room. The place had been closed for so long that almost every smell was mixed together and only a closer inspection would help reveal the source of what he was picking up. A good thing that the darkness of the room didn’t bother his eyesight.
Hearing Dakota’s voice, he moved towards her and stared at the leather covered book in her hands. “What you got there? A journal or something?”
Caleb had never been particularly interested in history, he was more of the action man…or wolf, but that could give them some clue about what was going on and how to end it before more innocents got hurt.

The journal was old and quite delicate so Dakota handled the pages with the care and respect that they deserved, she turned to face the direction of the moonlight and began to read. Dearest diary, I cannot begin to put to word my excitement, for today is my wedding day. I will leave my fathers house as Catherine Wilford and by nights end I will be Mrs Charles Dupree…….. it quickly became apparent that it was the journal of a newly married young Catherine Dupree.
” It’s a bride’s journal I think, Catherine began it the day she was to be married, “ a frown crossed Dakota’s faced as she noticed something, ”Oh….the date, it’s one year before their deaths,” She glanced momentarily up at Caleb, a shocked look on her face. ” They must have died on their very first wedding anniversary.” She skipped over a page only to discover Catherine’s details of her wedding night, she began to read a few lines then remembered that Caleb was standing right beside her and she quickly skipped a head a few more pages. ”Um, they appear to be very happy, at least in the beginning. Let me skip a head a bit further or we’ll be here all night.”
Skipping through many pages Dakota stopped from time to time to read little snippets of the couples life together, which seemed to be an endless array of parties for the local cream of society.”God I don’t think she ever did anything but buy new dresses, go to fancy balls and gossip about people……no wonder the woman went nuts. Then again it could still be an entity of some kind I guess and they were just its first victims. Although I still think it’s their vengeful sprits remaining here, reliving some traumatic event, it’s just that she seems so happy, why would she kill him and then herself?”
But then something caught Dakota’s eye as she got further into the journal, a large black ink mark, marred the normally neatly written pages, ” Look at this, her handwriting has become erratic and there appears to be water marks smudging the pages………Charles returned home late again last night for the third night this week and he came to our bed smelling of Lilacs. I cannot help but wonder is it another woman’s perfume? Dearest Diary I am lost, I love him so but has he forsaken me for another? Or am I a truly wicked and unworthy wife for thinking such things of my beloved husband? I must speak with my dearest older sister Bethany, she is wise to the ways of men having been married five years I trust her judgement completely. …..Ok, so I’m guessing those watermarks were tears because the marriage obviously isn’t going so well, men why do they always have to cheat? Let me skip a few more pages see what I can find. Ah…… here’s something interesting and it’s dated a few weeks before their deaths. Dearest Diary, I spoke to my beloved sister Bethany today and she assured me that Charles love’s me with all his heart and speaks of me often on his visits while her husband, a dear friend of his is away on business. Charles has been kind enough to look in on her and the children and see to their needs. I am so ashamed that I thought poorly of such a kind and generous man, I will pray that god will forgive my sinful assumptions. “
Dakota stopped reading for a moment and looked at Caleb shaking her head. ” Can this poor girl really be that stupid, it’s so obvious what needs of her sister’s her husband is ‘seeing to’. I’d personally kick his ass into next week but killing him and herself seems a bit overly dramatic. Let’s skip a head a bit to the end although I’m not sure I can bear to read this it’s like a twisted Jane Austin novel. Dearest Diary, I have awoken this morning the happiest woman in the world, today is our first Wedding Anniversary and Charles is giving me the most elegant party so all our friends and family can see how happy and truly in love we are. “ Dakota carefully turned the old worn page not sure if she would find any more entries after that one but there was one more, this like the one from a few months back was erratically written and marred with stains, this time however the stains weren’t water marks they looked more like dried blood.
Taking a deep breath she gave Caleb a solum glance and continued to read. ” How could I have been so blind diary, as not to see that my husband loves my sister and not me. I found them tonight in the garden, making love in the hidden rose garden. I heard him confessing his undying love for her. He only married me so that they could continue to carry on their affair without arousing suspicion, he has never loved me. The shame I feel is beyond words as I finally know the truth that I was never good enough for my husbands love. My most beloved sister has betrayed me did she never love me either? I have locked myself in our room and I write these last words as my loving husbands fists pound against the door for me to let him in. I cannot live with this shame, I will not, for without my husband’s love I have no reason left to live. I have no value in this world. May God forgive me but if my soul must pay with eternal torment then I pray God damns Charles’s soul to the same fate. “
Dakota took a deep breath and composed herself, clearing her throat before finally finding the words to speak. ” Ok, I guess it’s definitely vengeful spirits we are dealing with then, we need to find the bones and burn them.” As Dakota went to close the old journal she noticed the inside back cover had a glass insert much like that of a locket and imbedded behind the glass was a small picture of the not so happy couple and 2 locks of hair. ” Damn it we’ll need these too” She picked up a silver letter opener off the dresser and began to prize the glass off the tiny insert but before she had a chance to get very far Dakota heard a sound from the hallway, it was footsteps and they stopped just outside the door then she head the old doorknob rattle. Holy crap someone was coming in. The french doors to the balcony and their only means of escape was on the other side of the room and directly opposite the doorway they’d never make it without being caught. There was only one option to get them out of being done for common thieves. With no time to spare she quickly dumped the journal back on the dressing table, they could always come back for it later, they still had until tomorrow night.
With the sound of the doorknob turning slowly, Dakota put her one and only plan into action, grabbing Caleb roughly she shoved him backwards onto the large bed, into a waiting pile of silk cushions and quickly launched herself on top. ”Play along, " was all she managed to whisper before covering his lips with her own and she hoped he got the gist of what she was trying to do, hiding in plain site! With luck who ever caught them would just think they were a randy couple who’d just snuck off from the Murder Mystery evening to have a little fun and not accuse them of being thieves ransacking the room and Dakota’s current state of undress clad only in her tiny black silk slip would probably go along way to making their little show look convincing. As her lips met Caleb’s however and her body sank into his there wasn’t a lot of pretence needed to put on a good show. Her fingertips slid through his sexy dark hair and Dakota simpered slightly as she could barely control her pent up passion toward him and she deepened their kiss with such a fury she never wanted this moment to end.

Caleb had never understood the urge one might feel to record its memories and when he started to listen to Dakota read though the diary he was instantly reminded of why he didn’t get it, the stuff sounded like some lame chick romance that women usually loved.
But deep down he knew something was off, life was never this…perfect. There were always problems in the horizon…and for him this usually translated as people that wanted to kill him, but that was besides the point. He was so used to trouble that he couldn’t believe a life without it, not to mention that it would bore him immensely if he didn’t get his daily dose of ass kicking.
When Dakota asked how come Miss Dupree couldn’t see that her sister and her husband had an affair he simply shrugged. Maybe she didn’t want to? It was probably easier that way since she wanted her fairy tale to be real.
His sensitive hearing however was able to pick up the noise outside before the door knob was turned, but there was barely enough time for him to reach out for Dakota. It would hurt a lot if he jumped from the balcony, most certainly a few broken bones, and he knew he would recover quickly, but Dakota wouldn’t. Instead she came up with a plan of her own that saying it surprised him would be putting it mildly. Finally she was showing some attitude, unfortunately it was only to create a distraction.
That didn’t meant however that Caleb refused to play along as he pulled her body tight against his and kissed her back fiercely, while the thought of ripping off the throats of however was on the outside when they stopped them came to mind.

Dakota began to lose her focus, she momentarily forgot where she was and what she had been there for, as Caleb’s arms wrapped around her and pulled her closer to him and the intensity of their kisses increased. She could stay here all night wrapped in his arms, everything else in the world seemed to disappear, there was only her, Caleb, a very large bed and their burning passion that seemed to have exploded out of nowhere. Then suddenly any fantasies Dakota had were shattered with the sound of someone clearing their throat and she reluctantly pulled away from Caleb’s embrace and glanced up in the direction of the sound. One of the hotel employees was standing just inside the doorway to the room and he looked very nervous as he tried to gather the words to speak. As Dakota’s eyes focused on him, she could see that it was the young clerk from when then they checked in.
”You…..you two shouldn’t be here, this room is off limits to the public”The young employee tried not to look at them directly as he spoke, Dakota’s state of undress left him nervously glancing to the side.
Turning her attention back from the employee toward Caleb beneath her, Dakota leant down and gave him one more lingering seductive kiss before finally releasing him and speaking. ” I think we’ve been sprung honey, we’ll have to find somewhere else to play. “ Sitting up, Dakota began to slide slowly down Caleb’s body and off onto the bed. She then proceeded to learn back over him to retrieve her dress she’d given him earlier for safe keeping, letting her hand linger slightly under Caleb’s jacket just to make the hotel clerk a little more nervous as he watched her display. Once she’d finished embarrassing the clerk, Dakota rose from the bed with dress in hand and quickly slipped back into it and walked over toward the still nervous clerk who seemed to be a little lost for words.
”I’m terribly sorry about all of this. We didn’t hurt anything, I promise. We just wanted a little……..excitement.” Dakota grinned apologetically as she continued to speak,”As you may remember from earlier my husband left his little pills at home for the weekend but we simply just couldn’t survive the entire weekend without a little romance so we thought maybe a little excitement from sneaking in here might help with …….arr…. getting things on the road to a romantic evening.” Dakota watched as the poor young clerks face turned several shades of red, each one deeper than the last, her little plan seem to be working better than she expected and she didn’t even have time to be embarrassed by the situation herself, that would have to wait until later.
The young clerk nervously cleared his throat, he was still recovering from seeing Mrs deMolay in her silk lingerie, he’d tried to divert his eyes but couldn’t help catching a glimpse as she slipped back into her dress, if only he’d walked in 10 minutes later maybe he could have seen more than black silk lingerie…..or rather less, glancing over nervously at the man he really hoped Mr deMolay hadn’t seen him looking at his wife. The couple really shouldn’t be here but if they left quickly he’d be happy to forget most of the matter and he was in a hurry to get the hell out of this room it always gave him the creeps but it was his job to keep an eye on it this weekend.
”Please, if you both just leave quickly, I won’t report the incident.”
”Thankyou that’s really kind of you, I would be so embarrassed if anyone else was to find out about this. It’s getting late, so we’ll retire back to our room for the night now, no more explorations around the hotel.” Dakota turned back toward Caleb, ” Come on darling we need to head back to our room now. Apparently I have to keep you locked up for the rest of the night, no more adventures. “ Dakota monetarily glanced at the young clerk after her last remark and gave him a little wink. He fidgeted nervously with his tie before grabbing the bedroom door.
” Please, we need to leave quickly “

The hotel clerk probably would never know how close he came of having his throat torn open by a pissed werewolf. For all the times Dakota had made him insane, well, she really could kiss. And there was no denying the physical attraction he felt for the huntress…and after that she couldn’t deny she felt the same. If things went beyond the realm of physical he had yet to see, Caleb cared for her, but no way in hell he would admit before she would.
Frowning again when she mentioned the ‘pills’ again, he let out a low growl. His ego a little hurt with the insinuation that he needed chemical help to reveal his ‘animal side’ in the bedroom.
Pushing himself from the bed while he still considered throwing the clerk out of the balcony for arriving when he did, he watched Dakota slip back in her dress before noticing he wasn’t the only one peeking. For all the nervousness of the clerk, he did sneak a peek.
Frowning, Caleb grabbed the young man by his shirt’s collar and pulled him close to him as he shot the man a menacing glance that would leave even the most though man running for the hills. “Haven’t anyone said you its rude to watch other man’s ‘wife’ get dressed?”
The clerk’s eye went huge as he stumbled around for words to form an apology. Caleb looked at Dakota before letting the man go unharmed, and really…could the man run!
Looking to the huntress, Caleb shook his head and smirked. “Don’t tell me that wasn’t fun!”

(hope it was ok I moved Caleb back into their room, thought it would be quicker that way)
Dakota glared at Caleb when he grabbed the clerk, the poor young man looked like he was about to pee his pants and he bolted from the room choosing instead to wait safely in the hallway. Unfortunately though it hadn’t given her enough time to go back for the locks of hair in Mrs Dupree’s Bridal Journal but they still had until the couples wedding anniversary the following night and Dakota could arrange with the hotel manager in the morning to dispose of them, he’d asked her here to look into the case so hopefully he’d understand the need to destroy the locks of hair.
When Caleb had finished playing with the clerk, he turned to Dakota and spoke. ” “Don’t tell me that wasn’t fun!”
She rolled her eyes at him and tried her best not to smirk, at times he was like an overgrown kid and she liked that quality about him, even though it could both infuriate and annoy her. Linking her arm in his, Dakota leaned in and whispered as she led Caleb away from the room, ”Maybe for you but not for the poor young bugger. I thought he was going to pee his pants.” then speaking a little louder so the clerk who was now locking the room could hear as they walked away,”Come on Mr deMolay I had better get you locked up for the night before you terrorise anyone else.”
As she led Caleb back to their room, Dakota sent Blair a quick text message to let her know they’d discovered the source of the deaths and asked her to take care of finding the bodies, which were buried on the hotel grounds in the family graveyard. She hoped her friend wouldn’t be too pissed with her about getting the crappy job of salting and burning the bones but it had to be done and staff would probably be keeping a close eye on her and Caleb tonight after their little miss adventure. Shed also informed Blair about the locks of hair that they had found.
”Ok, so Blair is going to take care of the salt and burn, which will keep the heat of our asses for the night. We’d probably have staff dogging our every move if we tried to slip out tonight anyway.”
Once they were back in their room a familiar panic began to set in and Dakota realised that she would finally have to face what ever the hell it was that had been building between them and the very large imposing bed in the centre of the room wasn’t helping the impending panic attack any. For crying out loud, Dakota had battled all manner of creatures in her life, vampires, incubi, wendigo, demons………and she was still here and most of them weren’t, so why the hell did one little wolf scare the hell out of her so much? But then it wasn’t the wolf in Caleb that scared Dakota….it was the man, or maybe it was the woman in her? Maybe it was herself that she was most fearful of and the desires she kept suppressed, buried so deep she thought that they would never surface but now she was slowly loosing control and if she weren’t careful all her pent up sexual tension would end up biting her in the ass! Damn, was it her imagination or was the room suddenly beginning to get very hot.
She felt the sudden need to escape if just for a moment, grabbing her flannelette Tweety Bird PJs from her suitcase, Dakota then fled into the bathroom to change but emerged again soon after with a rather sheepish look plastered across her face. The goddamn zip on the dress had gotten stuck again and she couldn’t risk forcing it and possibly damaging the very expensive dress that she would have no way of paying for.
”Goddamn thing is bloody stuck again, think maybe you could give me a hand?"
Dakota was very careful as she approached Caleb, not to look him directly in the eyes, if she did she was certain she’d loose the control she was so desperately trying to cling to. Turning around to allow him access to the back of the dress and the uncooperative zip, she closed her eyes and tried to think of something else, anything else that would take her mind off the thoughts that were currently haunting her but all she could see when she closed her eyes was the two of them back in the Dupree’s room, on the large bed so similar to the one in their own room and Caleb holding her tightly to his body as they kissed passionately. Dakota simpered softly at the memory, she could still taste his kisses on her lips, could still feel the delicious sensation of his tongue as it had rolled seductively over her own during their heated embrace and she finally realised that no matter how badly she tried to fight her desires, Dakota found herself wanting so badly to relive every tormenting moment of that kiss…..

Laughing at Dakota’s remark about the clerk, Caleb raised a brow glad that he hadn’t lost his touch and could still freak out some idiot as the whim struck him. The pipsqueak should be glad that it was him and not a wolf that was threatening him.
Back at the days of the pack, Colonel Merrick was the alpha wolf of the pack, but the white wolf was always one not to be trifled with. A feral beast that had no such ambitions of leading the pack, a trait Merrick had used to his advantage. He could see now that his loyalty was misplaced when he followed the bastard, but even now that his human part spoke louder than the beast within, Caleb missed being a part of something bigger and not being alone.
The Den was an important part of his life, he had friends there, people he cared for. Derek, Sibeal and others. But still that feeling that he had all his life remained with him, the one that told him he didn’t really fit anywhere.
Nodding as the huntress mentioned about Blair, the wolf made quick work of removing the constricting suit he was wearing until he was only down to the pants. Not the suit type, especially not the old gangster suit type, Caleb was glad to be able to stop pretending to be the man he wasn’t. At that point he wasn’t expecting the fact of being wearing less clothes than before to have any effect on the huntress. He wasn’t one for modesty and wearing even less in the past had been something usual while he was in the pack that it had became some sort of an habit now.
Relaxing on the bed when Dakota grabbed some clothes and rushed out to the bathroom, he grabbed the crap wine bottle back and took a few swigs as his mind wandered back to the interrupted kiss back at the Dupree’s suite. That had certainly ignited a tension between then that he couldn’t deny, and he doubted neither the huntress would have the guts to deny that as well.
And when she reemerged from the bathroom asking him to help with the dress, Caleb raised a brow and placed the bottle down before moving to her. Making quick work of the zipper, his instincts tricked him as her scent reached him, making him to reach for her shoulder with his hand as he rose on his toes to place a careful nibble on the back of her neck.

{warning - if you are offended easily by corny writing with adult themes then STOP NOW and go watch something on public television}
Dakota waited for what seemed like an eternity before she felt Caleb’s hands release her from the troublesome zip and the expensive dress slid slowly from her now quivering body into a quickly forgotten heap on the floor. A voice in her head screamed for Dakota to run, run now before it was too late but her heart spoke differently, it begged her to stay. She was a fool, she should have just risked damaging the dress and removed the damn thing herself in the safety of the bathroom. Eventually she would have had to re emerge but she would have been dressed in her flannelette Tweety Bird PJs, conservatively covered from head to foot and not exposed as she was now, in her flimsy black silk slip that hugged her figure and barely skimmed the top of her thighs. It hadn’t been this difficult to stand before him in the other room dressed or rather undressed like this but now things had changed. They were no longer working the case doing what ever it took to get the job done, they were off the clock now and in the complete privacy of their own room. Dakota shuddered as the realisation hit her……….they were finally alone….completely alone
It was his breath she felt first as Caleb closed the distance between them and unable to control her own responses, Dakota involuntarily released a tiny moan at the anticipation of what was to come next and when his lips gently brushed the back of her neck, Dakota’s knees almost buckled from beneath her and she simpered softly with pure pleasure as Caleb’s tormenting nibbles caught that oh so sensitive spot at the base of her neck, the one she’d only read about in her Dark Hunter novels. Oh Crap!! she read other things in those novels too, other much more terrifying things….ok they were actually quite erotic but the thought of actually doing them with Caleb suddenly terrified the hell out of her. She had to flee.
”Oh God!!” she couldn’t help whispering from her lips, her terror momentarily forgotten and instead replaced by the divine pleasure of his nibbles, this was far better than actually reading about it. Her mind suddenly flashed back to the books and in a panic she stumbled forward in an attempted escape but she only made it the one step when Dakota found herself unwilling to flee further and she instead turn to face him. Her eyes caught his for a moment and she knew instantly that they would betray her, betray the feelings that she held for him and the burning desire that she could barely contain. As much as she’d fought to try and keep it hidden, she did care for him greatly, it was something more than friendship, much more and she knew in her heart that she was falling for him even though her head tried to warn her against it. Caleb being a werewolf had nothing to do with it, Dakota would never judge a person by such a trivial matter, it was the man that scared the hell out of her, or more specifically the thought of falling for him. She didn’t want to become lost like her mother had, pining after the death of her father but she also didn’t want to go through life consumed by emptiness never having known love, never having experienced it. Maybe if she just took baby steps…..one at a time.
Dakota took that lost step back toward him, it only took the one and their bodies were once again inches apart. She felt the color warm her cheeks as she blushed deeply from being so close to him, face to face but for own sanity now she diverted her eyes from his and instead let them fall to roam his almost naked, deliciously sexy body and more color began to stain her already crimson cheeks. As her eyes followed the contours of his body, curiosity got the better of Dakota and combined with a lack of self-control, she gingerly reached out one trembling hand and very slowly and gently brushed a stray lock of his wild and sexy black hair from the side of his cheek. Her fingers lingered there for a moment as she gently caressed his hair, it was strange how this one simple action gave her so much pleasure and she couldn’t help but wonder how much more there was yet to discover.
Her fingertips trailed lightly down his neck, onto his beautifully well-chiselled chest and danced delicately over his skin as she continued to slowly explore his body. She could feel his heart beating beneath the surface and Dakota caught her breath as the pace of her own heart quickened, a strange and unfamiliar sensation formed in the pit of her stomach and despite her lack of clothing she felt her body temperature sore. Dakota wanted to say something but her throat couldn’t find the voice to speak and she nervously bit her bottom lip as she tried to make sense of what the hell she was doing and she tried to search her memory of those damnable Dark Hunter novels for what came next but her mind drew a blank, her thoughts were consumed with tasting Caleb once more and if he didn’t kiss her soon she was sure to loose her new found curage and run back to the safety of the bathroom. She glanced up into his eyes once more, fighting back her rising fear and finally found her missing voice.
”Are you going to kiss me already, or do I have to hit you over the head with something!!!!!”

Truth be told, the wolf was expecting the huntress to smack him on the head. The woman could kick ass, but when it came to him trying to get more than a punch or a crazy joke from her the woman blushed and acted like a young scared girl. So much that at a time he doubted she might actually felt something more than friendship.
But he had to know if what they had shared in the Dupree’s room wasn’t some kind of fluke, something that wouldn’t be repeated again. And instinct had him nibbling on the back of her neck, careful not to draw blood and risk cursing her, Caleb tested the boundaries.
And then she took a step away from him and he was sure she would run for the hills at any moment. Great, at least he would know for sure where she stood now. He just hoped that he didn’t have to look like an idiot just to figure it out.
But instead of rushing for the door, her eyes lingered on him. And while she had seen him without clothes before…even if he still had his pants on this time, it wasn’t the averted shy gaze that it had been before. It was a deliberated slow gaze, taking in his appearance. Damned confusing woman!
She moved back towards him, her hand touching his face lightly as he stared into her. His gaze mirroring hers as it traveled over her figure. No, it wasn’t just those curves that drove him insane, but certainly they were part of the package.
”Are you going to kiss me already, or do I have to hit you over the head with something!!!!!”
So the wolf needed no more encouragement, moving his arms around her, he roughly pulled her in his embrace. The feeling of her body brushing against his urged him forwards as he kissed her ferociously. Tangling his fingers in her black hair, he grasped it and lightly pulled her head back and exposed her bare neck to his lips as they carefully and yet fiercely explored her skin.
For all his untamed savagery, Caleb was still a gentleman even if he worked hard on hiding so. He would not push it and go further than she was willing to, but it was incredibly difficult to contain the animal within.

Dakota’s eyes searched Caleb’s as she waited for a response; did he actually feel anything for her or had she made a huge fool of herself? It wasn’t long however before Dakota’s question was answered as he pulled her into his embrace, both shocking and exciting her at once with his roughness. He kissed her with such fierce passion that her knees almost buckled from beneath her and she melted into his body as the tantalizing kiss stole every ounce of uncertainty she had bottled up and replaced it with shear lust. Dakota couldn’t believe how his kiss made her body react to his, as if a long overdue erotic introduction were taking place and it was like she were being consumed by a fire from the inside, she could barely control her own responses his feral passion had ignited in her.
Her hands slid slowly and seductively over his well defined chest and up around his neck as she pulled him closer seeking more, wanting more and craving still more, as she tried desperately to keep up with him, letting little sighs of pleasure escape with every erotic roll of his tongue as he continued to kiss her fiercely.
Caleb’s fingers danced through Dakota’s long black hair and after entangling them there, he gently pulled her head back, leaving Dakota to simper slightly with disappointed from the loss of his entrancing kisses, until she found her exposed neck being plundered by his probing mouth and little moans of pleasure began to escape her lips, rolling one after the other until she couldn’t take the sweet torture anymore and decided to turn the tables on him. With the curage of her newfound awareness, she slid her fingers through Caleb’s own hair but in her eagerness to play she wasn’t as gentle as he’d been. Griping him by the hair she yanked his head back, now exposing his neck to her probing mouth and she began to nip at him hungrily, her kisses trailing down onto his bare chest, her tongue gliding over his skin, tasting him in between delicate kisses and nibbles before stopping to glance back up into his eyes. She held his gaze for a moment letting him see the passion he'd stirred with in her as her eyes glistened with desire.
Dakota found herself fighting to keep control of her passions and not loose herself too soon because she could so easily loose herself in Caleb, he’d discovered something buried deep within her that no other man had but as much as she found herself falling for him and craving his charms she wanted to take things slowly, she wanted to saviour the experience and enjoy each new discovery to the fullest, she didn’t want to rush a single second.
Rising back up, Dakota delicately pressed her lips to Caleb’s and kissed him lightly at first then the kiss grew slowly, sensuously and seductively, she didn’t want this moment to end but nor did she want it to continue too far, she pulled back slightly her arms still draped around his neck and gazed into his eyes as one of her teasing looks crossed her face.
”You know I was beginning to wonder if you were a little slow, I didn’t think you were ever gunna kiss me. “ she said deliberately trying to torment him.

The huntress that seemed forever uptight and maddening, but now her reactions were surprising the wolf. He could hear her heart rate increase, could feel her skin heating, could feel the effect his every touch had on her and it urged him to go further and allow his savage instincts to guide him in his exploration of her.
And then as it seemed she had enough of his lead, she turned the table on him and wandered on an exploration of her own. Caleb made no mention of stopping her and allowed her the control she sought. This situation wasn’t at all unwelcomed by him, quite the contrary, he always appreciated a woman who could take charge at times.
When she broke the kiss and he noticed the sarcasm in her words, he growled. But it was far from a menacing growl even if his brow furrowed in utter annoyance.
“Didn’t anyone ever told you how insanely annoying you are?” he said with a slight snarl, “And they never told you either that you’re not supposed to provoke a savage beast?”

Confusion set in as Dakota’s words of playful teasing seemed to be misconstrued or maybe she’d just mistaken Caleb’s advances for something more than they actually were. Her heart sank and disappointment began to set in, she’d been a fool to think that he’d want anything more than sex from her, after all it was the way of the world now…the norm so to speak and she had invited him here to join her for the weekend hunt, to share a room with her so what else was he suppose to think. The really confusing part was why did he suddenly seem so annoyed with her.
” Didn’t anyone ever told you how insanely annoying you are?” he said with a slight snarl, “And they never told you either that you’re not supposed to provoke a savage beast?”
Dakota took a step back from him, giving Caleb some space but she wouldn’t apologise for her behaviour her pride wouldn’t allow it and the situation hadn’t been entirely her doing but she did feel terribly embarrassed for being fool enough to think there could be anything more between them than friendship or a physical attraction, at least for Caleb. Just because her own feelings had developed into something more she couldn’t expect the same from him. She wasn’t blind, Caleb was obviously not a wallflower when it came to sex, the ‘friend’ in the lobby when they’d arrived was just another example. Dakota’s experiences in intimate situations was virtually non existent and past experiences had taught her that in someone her age it was like a red flag, if Caleb knew that she was a virgin would he be angry or just leave? Her heart sank a little at the thought of him being disappointed with her if her knew the truth but she refused to show any emotion and instead kept a cool head as she answered his question.
”Constantly…” she said jokingly, trying to mask her true feelings of disappointed ”…..but I’ve never had someone say that about my kisses before but thanks for the tip I’ll have to keep that in mind for the next man I kiss so I don’t annoy him too.” She didn’t completely understand his next question, she’d never viewed Caleb as a savage beast, all she’d seen was the man who she’d come to care for and respect. As for provoking him she wasn’t trying to start a fight with him, quite the opposite in fact and she spoke more seriously now. ” Caleb, I don’t see a beast standing before me, I see a man.”…..a man that meant more to her than she could let on. ” I wasn’t trying to piss you off but just for the record, I’m not afraid of you and if the need arose I could kick your ass into next week….I promise.” her last sentence was said with the return of just a trace of her faint humour and complete honesty. It was true after all, she realised that it wasn’t Caleb she was afraid of but rather herself and the feelings she had for him but she refused to let her heart rule her head and make a fool of herself, if he wasn’t interested in anything more than casual then there was nothing she could do, casual wasn’t for Dakota she wanted more than that.
Dakota shivered slightly, the air in their room seemed to have dropped by several degrees and she made a mental note to check the thermostat in a minute. What she hadn’t noticed however was that the time had gone past midnight and slipped into the early hours of the next day and the date of the Dupree’s wedding anniversary and it was time for their vengeful spirits to pick their next victims to re enact that fateful day from centuries before………..
