After leaving the gym, Jess had driven to a little cafe that was about 5 minutes from Sibeals house. After casting a glance in her rear view mirror, the young woman had assured herself that her brother was following and driven to the place with as much calm as she could.
Pulling into the parking lot, she got out of her baby and waited for Trey to join her. Neither one said a word as they walked in, grabbed a booth and sat down. A waitress rushed over to take their order and make goo goo eyes at the brother as the sister rolled her eyes and scanned the menu.
Settling on a Mountain Dew and a large order of onion rings, she gave the woman her order and waited for Trey to do the same. When she had finally left, Jess leveled her best look on her twin.
"Ok... So... Are you done running, you big dummy? I had to break the news to Dad that your still alive and then track your butt down. I reckon you have about... 2 weeks before Dad shows up too. If you EVER pull another stunt like disappearing in the middle of hte night again? I'm going go do something that I might not regret."

TreyTrey followed behind his sister keeping her car within visual distance. They were headed to a little cafe where they could get something to eat and talk. It was something he wasn't really looking forward too.
Staying close behind Jess' car he pulled into the parking lot right after her and pulled along side her as she parked. He got out of his card and caught up with Jess. They walked quietly into the cafe and found an empty table.
As he looked through the menu he noticed his sister rolling her eyes and looked up to see the waitress smiling flirtatiously with him. Trey gave her a little half-smile and rubbed his forehead. He wasn't really in the mood for this right now. But, it didn't warrant him being rude to the girl. He ordered a cheeseburger, fries and a Pepsi and handed his menu back to the young woman waiting on them.
When the waitress walked off Trey's attention turned back to his sister as she started to talk. She was giving him a ration of shit about him leaving. He sighed heavily as he looked at her. "I'm sorry. It seemed like a good idea at the time. I'm sorry about dad. I'll explain if he ever shows up... but that seems unlikely these days. I haven't seen him since I 'recovered' and it's not for lack of trying on my part you know? Anyway... So, what's going on... What all do we need to talk about? Dad? You mentioned something about feeling a sense of doom... Something wrong with dad?" Trey eyed his sister across the table. Picking up the water the waitress had brought over he took a sip. Waiting for Jess to start talking.

Sighing, Jess settled back and took a long drink of her pop. Reaching up she rubbed her face warily and the tension and exhaustion that had been hovering over her shoulders finally seemed to catch up. She was bone deep tired of all the supernatural crap and of dealing with it on a day to day basis. More often than not these days she had started thinking that maybe sticking put in one place might be a good idea. She was tired of the road and tired of feeling as if she were running from something that she truly didn't understand. She just felt as if she stayed in one spot... Trouble might actually catch up with her.
"Dad's fine...Turned to the bottle a bit since Mom died and you disappeared. It turned him for the worse. He very seldom crawls out of the damned thing anymore but when he does he leaves me a case or something to follow. He got my car fixed for me at least after the gjinn incident."
Trying to hide the hurt she still felt over her fathers state, the brunette shrugged her shoulders. She would never tell her brother how much it had hurt to lose her whole family in a span of months. Obviously, there was something wrong with her since her father hadn't seen clear to understand that she still needed him.
"As far as the sense of doom.... Well, its been hanging around since your funeral.. getting worse lately. I feel as if I'm being stalked but I have nothing to base my suspitions on. Lately, demons seem to be coming out of the woodwork so chances are I'm just imagining things but I just can't help the feeling that something really bad is about to happen."

TreyTrey kept his eye on his sister as she spoke. Trying to read between the lines. Was there something more to what she was saying? She looked tired, worried. Now Trey started to feel guilty. After everything that had happened, he came back from the dead essentially and then he left again.
He had tried to convince himself that it was because Jess had been having a hard time dealing with his sudden return but if he was going to be honest with himself it was really because he was having a hard time dealing with it.
Trey sighed as Jess went on about their father. Not all that surprised that he was drowning himself in a bottle. Trey was tired himself. It had been a long couple of days for him, late nights and not a lot of sleep. That was why he had gone to the gym in the first place. He wanted to get a work out in, maybe re-energize himself. "Jess, I wouldn't worry about dad. You know how he is. He'll pull himself out of it eventually or between the two of us we will knock some sense into him." Trey could see that it was really stressing her, though that didn't seem to be what was bothering her the most. He rubbed his forehead trying to ward off a headache.
While they were talking the waitress came and dropped off their food. Jess started talking again after the waitress left. Getting into why she felt the sense of doom. Trey winced a little bit as Jess mentioned his funeral. Thinking about them actually having a funeral for him just brought up bad memories. He just tried to push them back down. Not wanting to think about them.
Jess tried to explain the best she could about how she was feeling. Trey listened as intently as he could. He didn't like it, she wouldn't feel like that unless it was warranted. Something was going on. "Look Jess. What we do isn't easy, you know that. We see so much out there. I know what happened to me wasn't easy on the family, especially you. I had a good thing going and in the blink of an eye it was gone. Shattered into a million pieces. I lost three years of my life and it destroyed my family. I pretty much have an impending sense of doom every minute of the day these days." Trey looked down at his food. He seemed to have lost his appetite. Picking up his glass of Pepsi he took a long drink. Staring across the table at his sister. This was how he was feeling more and more these days. All of this was his fault. Somehow something had targeted him and his family. It was starting to drive him crazy.

His words had a ring of truth and Jess had to agree. Things hadn't been the same since she had lost him and no matter how old they grew, he would always be a part of herself. Her sense of doom could just stem from that but she didn't think it was completely the culprit. However, since she didn't know what WAS, for now she would let it go.
"Your right.... " she returned, sliding one hand through her curling locks. "How about we just start anew and work at things one at a time. Dad will show up when hes good and ready and you... You look like you could use some rest. Where are you staying? Sibeal has offered me a room at her place. I was going to stay with her and take some time off to straighten up my head. "
Picking up a hot fry from her plate, she munched on it and then sighed in bliss. SHE LOVED FRENCH FRIES. It was her one true addiction and it was probably a good thing she worked out as much as she did. She'd probably be a good 100lbs overweight if she didn't the way she put these things away.
Glancing back across the table, she eyed her twin with keen eyes and noted his worn expression. He definitely hadn't been taking care of himself although most people wouldn't see the haunted look in his eyes. Jess expected she might wear the same look but his... His came from an even deeper pain. Suddenly bone weary again, the young woman stared down at her plate and sighed.
"We're really a mess aren't we? Who would have thought that keeping the world safe would come down to this? I used to think we were doing the right thing. You know.. Hunting evil... Sending spirits on their way... But everyday there seems to be more and more evil in the world. Its an uphill battle and its never going to stop. Maybe its simply the way of things...... It feels as if everything we were taught to believe is being shooved in our face and I can't help but wonder....... Is it really worth it all?"

TreyTrey looked across at Jess, studying her as he could see she was thinking. When she spoke he nodded his head. Yeah, they would have to deal with dad later. Wouldn't do them good to stress about him or try to find him. If he didn't want them to find him it wouldn't be worth it.
A weary smile crossed his lips as Jess turned the subject back to him. Asking him where he had been staying and that he looked tired. He sighed before answering. "I'm alright Jess. I'm staying at a motel for now. I ran into Sibeal the other night. She offered me to stay at her place. I just didn't think it was a great idea at the time. I'm alright where I am." Trey didn't want to mention that he'd run into Sibeal at the strip club. Not that Sibeal probably already told his sister all about it. Including telling her about Shane. But he wasn't sure what Sibeal would say so he didn't want to bring it up. "It's good you're staying with her though. Gives you a decent place to stay and a good friend to talk to. You need that. You should feel safe there." Still feeling a bit out of sorts but looking at his food he just couldn't let it go to waste. He took a bite of his burger and washed it down with another drink of Pepsi. They both sat quietly eating their food for a few minutes until Jess broke the silence again."We're really a mess aren't we? Who would have thought that keeping the world safe would come down to this? I used to think we were doing the right thing. You know.. Hunting evil... Sending spirits on their way... But everyday there seems to be more and more evil in the world. Its an uphill battle and its never going to stop. Maybe its simply the way of things...... It feels as if everything we were taught to believe is being shoved in our face and I can't help but wonder....... Is it really worth it all?" Glancing up at her he tried to give her a reassuring grin. He had his doubts as well but they had to stay strong in this. No matter what he was feeling or what was going on with him it was important that his sister was kept safe. That was his main concern. Especially if their dad wasn't around right now, he felt it was his job to look out for her. "Jessie... We ARE doing the right thing. It's not always easy but it is right. Hopefully, now that I'm back we'll be better. We can handle anything as long as we have each other right? You and me, we will always be bonded no matter what happens." Giving her a wink he leaned back in his seat. Picking up a couple fries, dragging them through some ketchup and popping them in his mouth. As he chewed he thought about what he had said. Hoping he was sounding more convincing than he was feeling. He had to keep a strong front going at least for Jess' sake.

Jess could tell her brother was trying to put up a good front but what he said made sense so she nodded and set about eating her fries. A companionable silence fell between them as they dug in to the food and soon it seemed as if no time had passed with them apart. A slight grin spread over her face as she remembered the times they had pulled pranks on each other over a plate of food and bottles of ketchup. Glancing upwards, she wondered if he was thinking of those same times.
"Do you remember the time you went to put ketchup on your fries and the whole bottle dumped out on them?? I have a confession..... That wasn't Dad.... That was me...." she said suddenly.
Remembering the occassion brought a smile to her face. They had been in a little diner and Trey had gotten up to use the bathroom. Knowing what his first move would be when he returned, Jess had unscrewed the lid and set it by his plate. When he'd come back, the ketchup had flown. Literally. Carey Coulter had saved a fight by stepping in to say that he had pulled the prank but Jess figured Trey had always actually known she was the culprit. For all that he was only 12 minutes older, he had certainly taken on the big brother complex and she'd tormented him silly.

TreyTrey couldn't help but laugh when Jess started talking about pulling pranks on each other. He remembered the ketchup incident well. Shaking his head he smiled at her. "Yeah, I knew that was you. Like dad would have done that. But, you remember the time that someone replaced the sugar with salt and you put it in your coffee? You yelled at that poor waitress. I felt so bad about that but couldn't bring myself to tell you it was me. I know what it's like to be yelled at by you." Chuckling at the memory. Trey had always looked out for Jess, was her protector, sometimes whether she liked it or not. He did know she could take care of herself. The way she ripped into that waitress that day had proven that in his mind. But he was still her brother and he felt obligated to watch over her.
Trey finished up his burger and fries and took a long drink of his soda. Feeling a little bit better after thinking back about some good memories instead of being haunted by the bad. He sat back in the booth and grinned. "So are we good then? You're not still pissed at me and I'm not going to run off without telling you again?" Looking across the table at her he gave her his best sad puppy look. His way of asking her for forgiveness and putting things behind them. They were in a new place a new start. Things had to get better for both of them.

Smirking a bit, Jessie dug into her food and took her time savoring every bit. It felt good to be with her twin again once she looked past all the garage that they had been through. Without him, things hadn't been the same... It had been as if a piece of herself had been missing and she had been a ship lost at sea. The old saying about twins being bonded by more than blood held true for them. Somewhere, deep inside, she'd never believed Trey was dead and now... Now she knew she had been correct.
"So are we good then? You're not still pissed at me and I'm not going to run off without telling you again?"
Thinking for a long moment, Jess let a minute of silence trail out before she replied. Some imp inside her needed her brother to suffer just that little bit more before she gave in and did what they both knew she would do.
"Yeah.... We're good. I think we've both changed alot over the last few years and its going to take some getting used to but... Yeah, your my twin. Its not like i have much choice. Being mad at you is like being mad at myself!"

TreyTrey sighed and shook his head as Jess didn't answer right away. He knew she was just stretching it out, making him wait before she finally answered. That in itself was an indicator that things were better between them. When she finally did answer He nodded in response. He had known that feeling as well. Even when he couldn't remember anything he had always had that nagging feeling that he was connected to someone. Remembering he had a twin was one of the first things that had come back to him.
Looking across the table at her. All he could do was smirk and shake his head. Sometimes being a twin could be a royal pain in the ass. It was too easy to know what the other was thinking. "Yeah, definitely changed a lot the last few years. Losing your memory will do that to you. Having everyone you know think your dead kind of screws with your life. All I can say is I'm here now. Doing the best I can, I'm here if you need me... What say we get out of here? I think I need a drink." Trey heaved a sigh and rubbed at his temples. Jess had been right. They couldn't stay mad at each other long. But, knowing that she could read him so well made him uncomfortable right now. He didn't like feeling out of sorts and he knew he couldn't hide things from his sister. Right now he didn't think he could explain everything that was going on in his head.
