Three hours, three incredibly long and incredibly boring hours in a meeting with a couple of old geezers about his family business, and for what? A few hundred thousand dollars? Next time Nick called about a business meeting, Max wouldn’t even get up from bed for less than one million.
Now as he closed the door and tossed the keys on the table, he was immensely glad he was home. Suit and tie work was never his thing, hell, give him a demon to fight instead and he would be way happier. Hell got nothing on a few old geezers talking about numbers.
Now all he wanted was to get a shower, maybe a drink and caught some shut eye. The house was silent, so maybe Lexi and the kids were out. A nice relaxing massage from his wife would fit nicely…but heck, if she did it would probably lead to other things and he wouldn’t get any sleep and be beyond exhausted. But he would have a huge grin in his lips.
Thinking for a moment, he decided it wouldn’t be so bad after all. “Lexi? Baby?”
No reply.
A pity. So he had the house all to himself, and back to the previous plan. Wandering into the bedroom, he quickly slipped out of his clothes and moved under the warm spray of water in the shower.

The sound of a voice intruded on Lexi's little "nap" but the blond woman couldn't quiet pull herself out of her cozy little hiding place. Curled up on the couch in the study, she sat with a fuzzy warm throw pulled up over her and a book laying beside her face on the pillow.
Awakening slowly, she vaguely heard the sound of movement going upstairs and she rubbed her eyes before yawning and sitting up in a bit of a daze. Looking around in puzzlement, she realized she'd fallen asleep yet again and frowned. She'd been doing that a lot lately and it was so unlike her.
She, of course, knew the reason and had for a couple weeks now but simply hadn't found a way to tell her husband the news yet. If she wasn't careful, he was going to figure it out before she ever had the chance. Several mornings all ready, she'd had to leap out of bed and run for the bathroom before being violently ill but she'd managed to pass it off as simple exhaustion and a bit of the flu bug that was going around.
"Flu bug, my butt." Lexi thought to herself as she pushed herself to her feet and wandered into the atrium. "I swear, this condition really IS in the water around here!"
Over the past few months, it seemed like women were contracting this "condition" like it was an epidemic. First Jo, then Shane and now herself. Then of course, there was Sammie who was due any day now. It was like a baby boom was being born to the "Winchester Army" as they all joked. With the holy war going on and civilians and comrades alike dropping like flies... The prospect of a new generation was actually a comfort to them all, she thought.
Of course, it really was only a natural result when each one was married to handsome, virile men who's bad ass nature was only surpassed by the desire they felt for their wives. When you couldn't keep your hands to yourself and passion often swept aside caution... well, was it really any wonder that the women ended up in the family way?
Smiling slightly at that thought, Lexi spied Max's keys on the side table and sighed. Figuring he'd gone upstairs, she headed towards the back kitchen and went in to find Betsy fussing over a batch of cookies. The moment she spied her, she tsked and hurried over to the stove to grab a tea kettle and pour a healthy dose of chamomile into a mug.
"Here, Ms. Lexi. You look like your stomach is bothering you again. You just drink this down and it will settle it right straight."
Laughing a bit, Lexi took the cup and then inhaled the scent. It was soothing and delicious.
"Thank you Betsy. Max is home so he'll probably be done in a bit for some of those cookies."
Frowning, the huge black woman eyed her.
"You haven't told that boy yet, have you?" she asked, shaking a spoon at her. "You haven't told him he's going to be a father again?"
Sighing, Lexi sank on to a stool and shook her head.
"No, I haven't... I haven't really found the right way yet... Last time, he reacted so violently... and this time... well, its like its all happening again. Granted, he's already a father but with Luka's attack and everything so mixed up.... "
Watching her sympathetically, the woman nodded.
"All that be true, Ms. Lexi, but hes bound to notice soon if you don't tell him on your own. That boy isn't blind and you've got that same glow you had when you carried my precious angel. Between that, your queasy stomach and need for naps... He's bound to notice here soon. Not to mention the fact that you'll shortly begin to round out again."
Placing her chin in her hands, Lexi knew Betsy was right but that didn't make it any easier.
"Your right. I know your right. I just don't know how to do the deed."
Laughing, Betsy eyed her.
"From what I saw, I say the deed is done and done well."
Blushing, Lexi got him and headed for the door. She wasn't about to touch that one so she exited with as much grace as she could and headed for the stairs. Taking the long staircase as quickly as possible, she turned in the direction of their suite of rooms and heard the shower running as she stepped inside.
Deciding to wait for him in the bedroom, the blond slipped across the room and crawled on the bed. As she did so, she failed to notice the new pregnancy magazine she'd gotten from the doctor a few days ago slide out from under her pillow and to the floor beside the bed.
Curling up on her side watching the bathroom door, she yawned again and then fell asleep once more as the sound of running water lulled her into sweet comfort.

Slowly feeling the muscles of his body relax, Max closed his eyes and relaxed under the warm spray of water. It wasn’t the same as having his wife there, she had really spoiled him, but it was a great way to relax and take his mind away from work. He was almost convinced that the lawyer he had spent the last few hours was Lucifer itself, actually at some point he hoped for it, it would be better to exorcize his ass than deal with the contract regulations. But gah! Enough about work.
Deciding to slip out of the shower before he ended with all the water of the city, he turned the shower off and reached for the towel to dry himself. He was starting to feel like himself again, his tired self true, but his smiling self as he focused his thoughts about his wife.
“Alright, back to the plan,” he spoke to herself while wrapping the towel around his waist an running a hand through his dark hair to pull it back. Get to the cabinet downstairs and grab a healthy dose of whiskey on the rocks and get back upstairs to crawl into bed. By the time he woke up, Lexi and the kids would probably be back… from wherever they are, he thought stifling a yawn.
Stepping out of the bathroom, he was absently minded moving to the door until a flash of golden hair caught the corner of his eye and he turned his face to see his wife at sleep in the bed. “How long I was in the shower?“ he asked quietly to himself. He hadn’t heard her come in.
Walking towards her, he knelled next to the bad and stared at her with a smile. She had the flu bug, poor thing, hadn’t been feeling well lately. He had told her to talk to Betsy and ask her from some of her tea to help her bounce right back up, but that tasted sp awful that he doubted she did.
His hand touched the floor for support as he was about to push himself up and it touched something unexpected. Grabbing the magazine, he figured it was something his wife was reading before falling at sleep and looked at it with mildly interest…and when it registered, his eyes went huge and he fell back on his ass.
Running a nervous hand to push back the hair that had fallen over his eyes, he read it over and over, as if it would change what he was reading. Man, was he shaking! Was she…she…he could even barely think it, but it all added up. The morning sickness, the naps…the way she looked different, he couldn’t believe he was so blind.
She was…she was…”PREGNANT?”
In his surprise he didn’t quite control the volume of his voice as the realization blurted out.

”PREGNANT?”
The word rang out so close to Lexi's ear that she immediately jumped straight up in bed and looked around in confusion. When her eyes landed on Max sitting beside the bed, she immediately frowned.
"Max?" she asked in surprise before her eyes landed on the magazine he still held in his hand."Oh lord..."
Swinging her feet off the soft mattress, she fretted a bit as she watched him. He'd obviously put two and two together and came up with the truth. The shock and befuddlement in his expression had her biting her bottom look and shrugging with helplessness.
"Um... Surprise?" she said softly before taking the magazine from his hands and sliding down to sit on the floor beside him. "I was trying to figure out a way to tell you but... Nothing seemed to be right.... However, this wasn't QUITE how I envisioned it going... "
Stopping for a moment, she entwined her fingers in his.
"Your going to be a daddy again... Around christmas time I think....I think this holiday season is going to be a very , very busy time for our family and our extended family."
Still seeing the stunned emotion on his face, she tried to lighten the moment with some humor.
"Look at it this way... At least Curse has to go first! You won't be the only one trying to cope!"

So astonished he was that Max missed as Lexi woke up. She was pregnant? She was pregnant…she was pregnant…holly hell, she was pregnant! How could he not see it? And why, oh why didn’t he continue downstairs first for that drink first?
"Um... Surprise?" His eyes moved up to watch her in bafflement. Yeah, talk about surprise! The one that had his heart racing like crazy and his head spinning with concern. Max was still getting used to be a father to Sebastian, trying his best to be a good father and not spoil his son’s life. And there was Ben, he couldn’t shake the fact that he was a father figure to the boy, so he had to be extra careful to not spoil two lives. And now, number three was on the way?
"I was trying to figure out a way to tell you but... Nothing seemed to be right.... However, this wasn't QUITE how I envisioned it going... "
Oh good…but still…OH MAN! He was going to be a father again. A few years ago no one would believe, Max Blair, settled down in a family, wife and three kids…oh God, three kids!
"Your going to be a daddy again... Around christmas time I think....I think this holiday season is going to be a very , very busy time for our family and our extended family."
He opened his mouth to say something…once…twice…he actually lost count of how many times he actually tried to speak but no voice came out of his mouth.
"Look at it this way... At least Curse has to go first! You won't be the only one trying to cope!"
At this point a fleeting smirk crossed his features for a second as he pictured Curse in his place, but then again the knowledge it was him instead of his friend caused the smirk to vanish.
“Some warning before I stood here looking like an idiot would be nice…” he said in a whisper and then turned to face his wife that was now seating on the floor besides him. “I’m going to be a father again? When…how that…uh, I know how, but…”
And then as the initial shock settled down, that proud daddy smile that he had when Sebastian was born came to grace his lips again and he moved to place a passionate kiss upon Lexi’s lips before his strong arms embraced her and he pulled her up with a huge grin and twirled around with the beautiful woman in his arms.
“I’M GOING TO BE A FATHER AGAIN!” he said loudly in delight, a panicked delight… “Holy hell…”

Laughing a bit in pure relief, Lexi allowed him to embrace her and then kissed him back. This was certainly different from the last time they'd had this discussion and she couldn't help but be happy he was taking it so well.
"Yes, and an excellent father you make, love. Maybe this one will be a little girl. Wouldn't that be about perfect?"
Laying her head on his shoulder, she continued.
"Although I honestly don't care what it is as long as its healthy. I think I'm going to take some more time off from the club and quit going in so many evenings. I'm already so sleepy all the time that its about all i can do to sit down without falling asleep these days and after the last few months.... Well, I think it would be best to slow down a bit like I did when I was pregnant with Bastian... What do you think?"
Turning her bright blue gaze up to his, Lexi smiled happily and wrapped her arms around his neck. Her expression was impish as she teased.
"And if my calculations are correct, this is the second time that old desk in the study has been a lucky charm..... I believe both Bastian and the child were concieved in there. Do you think Betsy has placed a fertility charm in there or something?

Be it a boy or a girl, Max would be delighted and panicked. Second time father, it didn’t make it seem any easier or made him less anxious…and crap! There would be twice the diapers? He shivered just thinking about it.
Still holding his wife, the dark haired man was confronted with several conflicting feelings. Joy and happiness, and concern and anxiety in the other hand. “I think it is definitively a good idea, stressing yourself can’t be good for you and the baby right now, and you be safer here at home…” he hadn’t forgot Luka’s attack and now that she was pregnant he would get extra-nervous and edgy about her being safe.
When she mentioned the study’s desk, Max raised a brow. She was right, it was the second time around that the table was part of the story of a new member of the Blair family. If Betsy had placed a fertility charm on it…he was going to kill her.
He was honestly thrilled with the idea of a new baby, but every time he discovered he would be a father he had almost had a heart-attack. “If it is a girl…hell, if she turns out anything like her mother, I will have to take out the shotgun to keep the boys away, she won’t be allowed to date until she is 50.”
