((Orange County, California))
Pete had been driving non-stop throughout the night, he had already picked up the trail late and he didn't want to lose them so soon, he looked over at his passenger and smiled, he knew his life was like a Tornado creating Havoc and destroying things as soon as he arrived it was one of the main reasons why he normally worked alone, unfortunately for her she had met him and now her quite night by the fire had turned into a cross-country race to track down something she didn't even know about until about 8 hours ago.
He turned on the radio and heard the Kyrie being played on the local station, he wound down the window and placed his arm on the door frame, the sun was beginning to rise and he saw the more affluent houses of Orange county being framed by the early morning rays, he again smiled at the thought that these people always worked in environments where being in control of decision making was a necessity, but how many of them would be in control of themselves let alone decision making if they knew even a tenth of what he had seen.
He continued to Drive towards Huntington Beach, down Beach Boulevard, he knew of a small hotel which they could use as a base, to be honest it was part of the chain of hotels that his Aunt and Uncle owned he didn't like using them like this, but he was short of funds and this way, they could get free accommodation. He watched as two girls ran past on a morning jog, "Welcome to California" he muttered to himself as the lights turned to green.
He pulled into the parking lot between a Beamer and a soft to Chevvy, switching off his engine he turned to his passenger "Did you wanna leave your bike in the back or do ya wanna see if they've got somewhere inside to keep it til where done?" He asked Dakota.

The drive from New Orleans had been a long one and Dakota had ended up sleeping most of the way, when the engine of the truck stopped purring and it came to a halt in the parking lot, she opened her eyes and after a quick yarn she took a glance around at her new surroundings, it certainly was very different than New Orleans.
"Did you wanna leave your bike in the back or do ya wanna see if they've got somewhere inside to keep it til we’re done?"
Dakota’s eyes drew back toward Pete as he spoke and she considered her options for a moment before replying.
”It can stay in the back for now, but a place to stash it when we head out would be handy.
She noticed that they’d pulled up in the parking lot of a motel and Dakota was immediately concerned about her lack of finances and how she could manage to pay for her fair share.
So, this is where we will be staying then. Any idea what their rates are like? She asked as she grabbed her back pack and began to climb out of the truck ready to follow Pete in.

Pete listened to Dakotas Reply and opened the door of the truck, he jumped down onto the ground and was about to shut the door behind him when Dakota mentioned about her finances, he needed to find a way quickly of convincing her it wasn't charity, "Uh... Listen...you'll probably think I'm just making it up, but.. my Folks own this place and if it's still the same guy owning it, it shouldn't cost us a penny, I used to visit this place on leave so they know me pretty well," He answered then realized another problem, "We'll probably have to share a room, and I'll probably have to introduce you as my Girl" Pete said quickly slamming the door shut. Pete proceeded to walk to the back of the truck, reaching in he pulled out his bag and threw it over his shoulder, he reached into his shirt pocket and pulled out a set of sunglasses, "Uh...there is one more thing as well, if the folks ask I'm still in service, they don't know I've been discharged" He said to Dakota as she walked around to the back to meet him.
He walked quickly into the main reception area and he noticed a hot Blond chick sitting behind the front desk, he didn't recognize her, he gave her a quick smile and looked at the name of employees on duty today on the board in the back, his smile grew as he recognized the name of the manager on duty "Where in luck" he whispered to Dakota.
He turned his attention back to the young girl, he looked down to her breast and read her name badge "Hey Jenny, listen I need you to do me a favor, can you put a call through to Ted and tell him an old friend is here to see him" Pete asked, he stepped back to Dakota.
It didn't take long for Ted to arrive and Pete recognized him instantly, Ted quicken his pace as he recognized Pete "Well, well how is our favorite Pilot?" He asked in his rather pronounced English accent, "Ted this Dakota" Pete said introducing Dakota, "I'm gonna need a room for a bit, Not sure how long I'll be here for though" Pete finished. "Your In luck, your regular suite just became vacant this morning, though you'll probably have to wait until the maids finished though" Ted said as he went behind the front desk and tossed him a set of keys.

Dakota walked around the truck as she nodded and listened to Pete explain about his folks owning the motel, that would be handy if they could stay for free or at the very least get a really cheap deal, her finances were virtually non existent until her ebay sales came through, something that she’d have to check on the moment she got to her room. Dakota always carried her laptop with her and it was currently tucked safely away in her backpack that she had slung over her shoulder. With any luck the guy in Canada had deposited his payment today as promised and she wouldn’t be so strapped for cash, she refused to get by like many other hunters on credit card scams and cons it just wasn’t Dakota’s way. Continuing to nod as she listened to Pete speak, Dakota was about to say something when he got to the part about them having to share a room and that she’d have to pretend to be his girl.
”Huh?” she was momentarily distracted by the news, tripping on the concrete edging in front of the car park and stumbled forward slightly, cursing under her breath,”Damn useless things,”
Dakota then turned her attention back toward Pete as she tried to fumble for a response. She guessed it would be ok, Pete seemed like a decent sort and they had been going to share the cabin back in New Orleans so she figured there was no big deal as for the part about introducing her as his girl, it was more the lying to his family she was uncomfortable with but she realised that in this game you couldn’t always be upfront with the hunting part of your life, people just might not understand if you told them that you professionally popped ghosts, demons and vampires among other things for a living. After all her own father's family had disowned him for marrying her mother a hunter, so Dakota of all people understood the need for discretion.
”Oh…..um sure that will be ok, anything to keep the peace in a family.” she gave Pete a bit of a nervous smile before following him into the main reception area and waited as he tried to organise them a room. She smiled and said hello when he introduced her to his friend Ted and waited for Pete to lead the way once he had the keys.

Pete pocketed the key and then turned to leave, noting the familiar kiosk situated in the corner he quickly hurried over and brought a copy of all the local newspapes, his theory was that if anything had happened the locals would be covering it.
He walked back out of the main entrance and began to walk over to their room, the building itself was uniformedly built on four floors, with about 25 rooms on each floor their room was going to be on the ground floor so hopefully it would provide Dakota with the necessary security she was looking to have for her bike, the door wouldn't stop anyone who tried to force thier way in, but at least it would be out of the main view of the car park.
On arriving at the room, he opened the door to the cool breeze of the air conditioning, he walked over the small kitchenette area and threw his bag on the work surface, placing the newspapers at next to it, he walked over to the phone, he knew Ted would already have phoned his Aunt and Unc, and she in turn would want to speak to him. Without fail the phone rang and his Aunty was on the line, same old questions, same old responses, how was he?, had anything happened she should know about?, how was the army life treating him?, doesn't he know how to call? and on and on and on she goes.
It was a good half an hour, before he finally managed to convince her everything was fine and he was just on leave, It wa sone of the main reasons he hated having to stay in his folks motels, but neccessity required it this time thouhg, he walked over t the papers and grabbed the first one, he opened it up and began to scower the pages for any relevant stories.
