Max was perfectly aware that he was trying to drawn his problems in order to forget them if only for a while. And the reason he had searched for a dark corner to do just that was precisely because he couldn’t face his wife and kids while he did it. And he couldn’t face staring at their faces as well when he saw that silent despair of fear in them, so yeah, he was screwed one way or another.
What haunted him the most was the thought he hadn’t been able to save his own mother, brother, sister-in-law and niece. Now the only ones he had left to call family were Lexi, Bastian, Simi and Ben. And the knowledge that he wasn’t strong enough to ensure their safety scared him senseless, made him want to run away. And yet the hunter knew that he couldn’t leave without any of them.
"Max? Baby?"
Hearing Lexi’s voice chilled him to his core and he opened his eyes reluctantly. One look at her had him hurrying to shift his gaze away and hanging down his head. “Hey Lexi,” he replied trying to hide the way he felt. But could he do that when that woman knew him more than anyone ever knew? She had always been able to read him like an open book.
Taking a deep breath, he still avoided looking her straight in the eyes. When things did have gotten so messed up? Scooting over, he made way for her to seat next to him. Trying to hide the bottle would be a moot point, so instead of putting it away he took another long sip. He had a feeling he would need it.

All in all, Ilani really wish that she could been darting. But every single step she took made her lower back scream, and after ten quick steps, she was hunched over and leaning on her tricked out shotgun for support. Man, if anyone commented on how she looked like some crazy old lady, she was gonna shoot first and ask questions later.
Damn. Probably not a good idea with her luck lately; leaning on a shotgun with the barrel pointed up. Especially not the shotgun that had just reduced a target to a pile of smoldering cinders.
But hell, nobody ever said that said that her common sense was sharp. That poor thing was probably holed up in some corner of her mind, crying itself to sleep.
“Stupid shotgun. Stupid hunter. WHY do I always go to the crazy ones who can’t seem to form an intelligent sentence? And I bet you it wasn’t my feet he was staring at, either. Perverts…they’re all perverts…” With a sigh of relief as the empty hills turned to familiar houses, she slowed down her hobble-trot to a grumbling limp. “Poop, I’m not gonna be able to sit for a week, I just know it. Thank God I decided to wear my sweatpants today, or I’d probably have broken the damn thing. And…great, now I’m talking to myself again. And everybody thinks that that Vic guy’s the crazy—ABAHOOHAW!”
With a loud squawk as a voice suddenly sounded from somewhere beside her, her knee-jerk reaction was to lift up her gun and shoot. But, even though her common sense was probably locking itself in a padded room somewhere, it managed to tell her that ‘babe’ wasn’t something an enemy would call her before cutting her head off.
…Well, then again…
Swinging around, she managed to stop herself from lifting the gun, hand tightening around the muzzle. “Holy cow, I’m getting you a bell,” She said, patting at her chest. “You scared the ever living daylights outta me! I swear to God, Derek DeVoux, I’m gonna go get a cowbell and duck tape it around your neck!”
Grumbling, she tried her best to glare at him, she really did. But it was just a known fact: she just could not stay irked at her man for very long. Just one little peek at that face- mrowr- and the only thing she wanted to do was to steal a set of handcuffs. Actually, make that two.
As her eyes drifted up from his lips to his eyes, her grumbling immediately stopped. Like the whirlwind that she was, irritation morphed itself into concern at lightning speed and, the pain in her back forgotten, she set her gun on the ground and hurried over to him. Standing on her toes, she squinted at his forehead and couldn’t help but feel a jolt of possessiveness start up.
And people said that Derek was the one with animal instincts.
“Baby, why is your forehead all pink? What happened? Did somebody try something? Just point ‘em out and I’ll cut their Happy Friends off.”

<==:{Still in Vegas}:==> Sprawled out on the cold marble floor in front of the huge, floor to ceiling windows, Natalya slept - fitufully mind you - but it was still sleep nonetheless, and nowadays, any sleep - be it fitful or not - was better than no sleep at all. The dreams - more like nightmares - came and went, but they always were the same: death, murder, more death.........it never ended. Slowly, Natalya opened her eyes, turning her head to look out the huge windows. The sky outside was gray, the clouds above hanging heavy with rain. Pushing herself up, Natayla groaned as her back popped when she sat up straight. Sleeping on a hard floor like this could really take its toll on a body, but Natalya had refused to sleep in the bed; it was too comfortable and would have - in her opinion - lulled her into a sleep that would have possibly gotten her killed. She couldn't afford a night of deep sleep, because of the fact she was out here on her own with no one else around to take a watch when she went to sleep. So, she opted for the least comfortable sleep to keep herself on her toes. Standing slowly, Natalya stepped over to the window, looking out over the wasteland. Her eyes were dead serious, no trace of the once fun-loving woman she'd once been. But, not many of the people she knew were fun-loving anymore, this destruction having taken its toll on them too. Natalya had - at one time - considered taking a residence at the Blair/Jordan compound, but she knew she couldn't. Her jumpy nerves had turned her almost completely trigger-happy which was why she slept with a gun in the holster on her side and one beside her at all time. She couldn't put the people at the compound in that kind of danger, so she stayed out here. But, she did stay in contact with the compound via an old CB radio she'd found which was now sitting on the bar. Stepping away from the window, Natalya began wandering through the penthouse suite, her steps cautious as her eyes darted this way and that each time she entered a different room. As she wandered, her mind drifted to Mike, the angel that had seen to her safety all this time. She hadn't seen him in quite a while and was beginning to wonder if he'd made it this long. Natalya stepped back into the main room where she'd slept and stood there in the middle of it, looking around. How had the world come to this? Why had God allowed this evil to ransack his beautiful creation? So many questions but no answers; it seemed as though the divine powers that be weren't being anymore. Looking down, Natalya took the little golden sword in her hand, gazing at it and wondering if Mike was still around.........if he could still feel that she still needed him. She'd gotten so close to him, but now, she was afraid he hadn't made it. Was there still hope that this world would make it through this troubled time? Looking over at the CB that sat on the bar, it remained silent almost as if the whole world had died or something.

As happy as Curse was to be home, that buzz of energy was still in his blood. He had a sense of unease that he couldn't place and he couldn't quite settle himself down. The sense of pending doom made even this homecoming uneasy and he found himself constantly scanning the area around them as if searching for danger. Something wasn't right and the air fairly vibrated from it.
Setting Tellie down, Curse moved towards his wife and pulled her aside as the kids raced and screamed around them. Knowing she could read him well, he ran a hand through his sandy hair and eyed the trees again.
"Everything all right while we were gone? I was in such a hurry to get to you all that I didn't stop to talk to Trey or Derek. Anything happen while we were out?"
Turning his attention to her face, he gauged her reaction and then glanced at the kids.
"Lets take the kids inside, all right? I don't know what it is but something is bugging me and I don't like them out here in plain site. Is Maddie around? Can she watch them for a bit? I'd like to walk over to HQ and make sure things are all accounted for."

The pains were coming faster now but the hot water helped her relax. Having been through this with the other three children, the pretty blond was a veteran at breathing through the worst and then relaxing while she could. From somewhere near, she heard the bathroom door open and opened her eyes to see Trey sliding into the room.
"Is the doctor here yet?" she asked over the fall of the water. "I don't think this baby is going to wait to make their entrance into the world."
Reaching down ackwardly, she turned off the water and then took the towel her husband offered her. She was just pulling on a nightgown when the pain hit again and she almost doubled over from the depth of it.
"Son of a gun... TREY COULTER YOU ARE NEVER TOUCHING ME AGAIN!!" she declared for the umptenth time in all her labors.

The last few years had really brought home a sense of what was important and those things were all here in the room with Samantha. The three faces all smiling at her were her treasures and she'd found she was quiet capable of killing anything that threatened them. Literally.
As she thought back over the last few years and the way she'd been forced to face the evil in the world, she knew she wouldn't have done anything different if it meant not having this precious family in her life. From the very beginning, she'd known being with Sam would have its ups and downs but never once had her love for him wavered. From that first kiss in the rain to this very moment, her heart had been irrevocably his. Smiling sleepily, she curled her body into his and kissed his stubbly jaw.
"Have I told you lately how absolutely wonderful you are?" she whispered as Katie chattered to the entranced baby. "You still make my heart skip a beat and your son is going to be just like you. He even has your dimples I think."
Pulling back to smile softly up at him, Sammie knew she was having those new mother emotions but they only strengthened the ones already there. Her love knew no bounds and as much as it killed her when he was gone... She knew it was something he felt he had to do. The years had etched new lines upon his handsome brow but his faith in the good was still strong. There was never a moment when he wasn't thinking or working towards a better future for them all.
"I'm glad you made it back in time for Jon's arrival. I missed you... more than you'll ever know."

Watching her husband, Lexi took a deep breath and moved over to sit next to him. She wasn't sure what she should say but seeing him drowned himself in a bottle was killing her. Everyone had their ways of coping these days but alcohol wasn't an answer and she knew it. It would only lead to getting him killed. However, who was she to tell him what to do and what not too? It wasnt as if she was perfect either. She retreated to the gym to work off her frustrations or teased Max to the point that they had wild monkey sex just to burn off those emotions. To see him so.. empty.. like this... It was like an arrow through the heart.
In her heart she knew that he still loved her and the kids but it was almost like he'd given up on everything else. He was a hollow shell that she couldn't seem to fill anymore.
"Why you out here by yourself?" she asked softly, already knowing the answer but needing to hear what he had to say. "The kids have missed you and they need your attention."
Looking off across the green landscape, the pretty blond listened to the silence and then turned her crystal eyes to her husband. Steel rang in her voice as she finally let some of her frustration bit into the space between them.
"You know.... You haven't lost everyone... You still have a family and you have me...... We can't do this without you and if you keep drinking yourself into that bottle..... One of these days... Your not going to come back.... I think you need to think about that and ask yourself what will happen to your kids when that occurs.... Not only that..... but .. Our family is going to grow in the spring and I need you now more than ever.... Its not to late for us...not yet.... But I need you here, 100%..... I love you to much to settle for anything else...."
Getting to her feet, the angel moved back towards the main compound area so that he couldn't see the anger, frustration and pain on her face. She didn't want him to see the devastation he was causing her and she was afraid if she looked at him she would crumble to pieces.
"I'm taking the children home.... Come home when your sober... The kids don't need to see this... I don't want them to remember their daddy as a drunk."

Sam Winchester - The Blair/Jordan Compound: Winchester Home - October 2014Sam rubbed the baby's back softly as he lay next to Sammie. Soothing the fussy newborn until he had fallen back asleep. It was amazing that the boy could sleep with his older sister the chatter box talking to him as if he could understand her every word.
Shaking his head Sam grinned from ear to ear as he looked over at his daughter. She was so much like her mother. That bubbly personality. He couldn't imagine his life without them. If it hadn't been for them he knew he wouldn't still be here. At least not with his humanity intact. They had been through so much. As Sammie spoke he turned to look at her. Her words warmed his heart. He felt the same way about her. A bit of a smirk appeared when she mentioned the dimples. "You know I love you more than anything. This family is everything to me. I don't think anything could have kept me away." Sam tightened his arm around her and gave her a squeeze. Placing another kiss on her forehead before he dropped his voice to a hushed tone. "I missed you too. It's the hardest thing I have to do is go out those gates without you." Giving Sammie another squeeze he sat himself up. Jon was sound asleep now. Cuddling the baby and giving him a soft kiss on the head, Sam slid off the bed and put the boy into his bassinet.
Sam crossed his arms over his chest and looked at Sammie and Katie still on the bed. Meeting Sammie's gaze and giving her a quick wink before he turned his attention to Katie. "What do you think about daddy and Katie going out to the kitchen and fix some breakfast? We can bring mommy breakfast in bed. Sound good Katie?" His answer was a little girl squeal and then Katie scampering across the bed. Sam scooped her up in his arms as she wrapped her arms and legs around her father. Leaning back down across the bed Sam whispered to his wife. "See if you can get some sleep. I'll try to keep her occupied for awhile. We'll bring you something to eat when you wake up." Sam gave her a smile and then carried his daughter off to see what was in the kitchen.

Jo Jordan - The Jordan Residence - October 2014Jo noticed Curse seemed to be on alert. More so than usual. She wasn't sure if he was still amped up from his mission or if it was something else. It made her own protection sensors go off and she kept her eyes moving. Alternating from watching Curse, the kids playing and surveying the area around them.
As soon as he made his way back over to her she knew it wasn't to whisper sweet nothings to her this time. She nodded as he spoke with an edge to his voice. Looking up at him as she responded quietly and calmly. "There hasn't been a problem. It's been quiet. Trey and Derek would have told me if they were worried about something." When Curse said they should take the kids inside she didn't question it. She didn't doubt his instincts in the least. It bothered her slightly that she hadn't picked up on it earlier herself. "I'm sure Maddie will come or maybe we should take them to the schoolhouse on our way to operations?" Jo raised an eyebrow as she started to move off to collect the kids while waiting for him to answer. The kids were racing around still giddy over their father's return home. Her system was on alert now and all that mattered was that her children were safe. Trying to keep her voice as normal as possible she shouted out to the children. "All right you guys! We have something to do. Get your butts over here right now! Jake, Tessa... catch your brother and sister and hurry up about it." Jo's voice was stern enough that they knew not to question her. It was her 'mom' voice, they knew she wasn't playing around. Jo watched as Jake and Tessa did what they were told and corralled Ash and Tellie, holding their hands as they trotted over to their mother.
When the kids made it to her side Jo bent down and picked up Tellie. Keeping the others within arms reach she looked over at her husband then back down at the children now gathered around them. "OK. Mommy and Daddy need to go over to the main building. We're going to have Miss Maddie watch you for a little bit. So... everyone better be on their best behavior." Jo gave Curse a look to let him know that whatever he wanted to do she was ready to go. The kids were milling around them still clutching their prized PEZ dispensers.

Listening to his wife speak, Max was silent. What was there that he could say? He wasn’t what she hoped or deserved. Purposely looking down so that she couldn’t see that on him, her words cut through him like a knife.
And when she left the dark haired hunter stared silently in the direction his wife had disappeared to, he loved that woman and their kids (Ben included) more than his own life. Thing was, there was all that was left of his life. Max knew she was right, her and the kids deserved more than a drunkard for a father, and that was exactly what he had became. In a fit of anger, he tossed the bottle in his hands against the wall and watched it smash in a thousand of pieces like his life had.
He wasn’t angry at the bottle, he wasn’t angry at Lexi, he was angry at himself. He was the one that hadn’t been strong enough to stop all this from happening, the self-proclaimed hero had been powerless to save those he loved and wouldn’t blame others for his failure.
There had been only some key moments in his life when the hunter had shed tears in his life, when his father died, when his kids were born, when he lost most of his family…and now.
What he wanted to do? To sneak out of the compound and go face Lucifer by himself. Max knew it would be a suicide run, but that was precisely the point. Stop the uncertainty and go out fighting. What stopped him? The beautiful goddess with the blonde locks, Ben, Bastian, Simi…it wasn’t the time to be selfish, it would only solve his problems. And besides that he believed that even in the apocalypse Lexi deserved a better husband, that the kids deserved a better father figure than him, he knew leaving them would be worse than death.
Pulling himself up, Max took a deep breath and started moving towards the improvised gym settled inside the compound for training purposes. He had to burn out the alcohol from his system and take out his frustrations on the sand bag in there. If he was to spar against a warm body, he was afraid that he would kill someone in his current state of mind.

City Streets of Norwood, Louisiana-Blair 2014(open)
The world is in ruins…The Croatoan virus ravaged the Earth without mercy. It didn’t care about your husband, wife, brother, sister, or your friends. It took what it wanted and never stopped. Those who did not catch this disease either from smarts or a very good immune system, was left to clean up the mess it made.
The task was a very hard one: the lucky ones never had came across a loved one and had to kill them, the unlucky ones did.
Blair was one of the unlucky ones, countless times she had to kill the empty vessel of someone she knew. The ones that hit her the most were the kids she took care of at the orphanage and her beloved. The years of killing the ravaged were getting to her. The countless sleepless nights, being alone, and the overwhelming ghosts. Blair was smart on one thing she traveled around gathering all the Bi Polar medicine she could find. She wanted to keep one thing, that was her sanity.
Today was like any other day, going through a town searching for survivors and gatherings supplies. The lucky town was Norwood, Louisiana. She was working her way back to New Orleans an town she was dreading to go to. Blair had so many good memories and friends there. She tried to find them when the virus broke out but they were already dead, in hiding or infected.
Blair spotted what she was looking for, a small grocery store. It looked untouched by anyone. Her hopes were find some food that hadn’t expired. She slowly came to a stopped making sure any infected weren’t going to pop out suddenly. Pulling her El Camino into park and killing her engine at the same time. Reaching for her gun holster beside her.
Quietly getting out of the car and putting her keys into her pocket. Her car door shut with no loud slams or sounds. Sneaking across the street and locking the grocery lock. The door opened like a dream. Making sure the door was closed behind her and turning her flashlight to see around the dusty door. Blair was surprised to see lots of food left, which was an miracle considering the food panic when the virus broke out.
Blair grabbed a cart and an empty dusty box and went to town. Grabbing anything that sounded semi pleasant. She hit the jackpot today and she was excited for once to visit a ghost town. Stopping dead in her tracks when she saw Frosted Flakes, Tony the Tiger reminded her of someone she hadn’t seen in a very long time, Treb.
Blair tried to halt the thoughts in her mind, she didn’t want to ruin her good day. She hurriedly put the things in the box and rushed out of the store. Placing the box in the truck bed and looking around at the silent time. Her eyes halted on an familiar sight a Jazz Club she once sang at. Her curiosity was high, Blair wanted to take a quick stop in there.
Her steps were cautious going in, she didn’t know what to expect. It was a little messy like a struggle happened inside. Locking the door for safety and pulling out her gun. Blair checked the placed before grabbing a bottle of whiskey and sitting at the piano. She drank while she played the untouched piano. It seemed like hours of playing, Tony the Tiger reminded her of all the things that she lost. Desperately tying to drown all the years of sorrow and suffering out. Once Blair started playing Permanent by David Cook, tears streamed down her face. Slamming her fist on the keys which made a noise not to pleasant to the ears.
Blair threw the almost empty whiskey bottle at the wall and looked up at the ceiling,” Why? Why me? What in hell have I ever done wrong? I went to church every freaking Sunday. I made sure the devil’s creature never harmed a single freaking person?!”
Eying the tables and chairs, she picked up the chair closest to her and repeatedly hit the ground with it. Smashing anything breakable she could find.
Blair fell to the ground eyes filled with tears, “Why did all these people have to die? What did they ever do wrong….Those kids in the orphanage, who were alone and had no love from the beginning they deserved an happy life. Not the virus. I wanted an happy life. I wanted to be married and have an carload of kids. Why could I have that? All those bad creatures I killed, Don’t I deserve peace?”
She sat there rocking trying to get herself together. Trying to suppress all those years…..

Smiling at Jazz as the door swung open, Helena was perfectly ready to throw in some small talk, and maybe a few compliments on the house. But one look at the girl’s face and the resulting ‘baby’s coming’ statement, and she went into the normal professional mode.
Ah, she really did miss Bob, her trusty lab coat. There was just something about donning the tattered, white coat before helping a patient.
Following the girl into the house, she shifted the strap of her impromptu medical bag, game face on and eyes intent. Alright, Ella, she thought with an inner girding of the loins. It’s show time. It doesn’t matter if the last time I actually delivered a child was during residency. I can do this, and both mother and child will be just fine.
And they would, if she had anything to do with it. Now knowing that there really was a Heaven and Hell, it was definitely in her power to say that she’d climb into whatever Sphere and kick some butts if things went otherwise.
“Yes, the doctor’s here!” Moving into the bedroom after Jazz’s announcement, Helena offered a smile at the expectant mother before moving quickly over to her. A shower while suffering through labor pains? This woman definitely had a strong disposition; she could tell already, and the thought made some of the tension in her ease. There wasn’t a formal hospital in the compound, after all, and while she was confident in her abilities, it always helped to have a strong Future-Mama at the helm.
Sliding her bag to the opposite side, she hurried over to where Shane and Trey stood, intent on helping the woman to the bed. With a cough to cover a laugh, she glanced at the expectant father before sliding an arm around Shane’s waist. “I’m guessing that he’s feeling the same way right now, Mrs. Coulter. Let’s just go sit up on the bed and we’ll see how ready Junior is to see his mommy and daddy.”

Watching his mate try to pull herself upwards, Derek had to sigh. He knew she'd been up to something but evidently she wasn't going to tell him what at the moment. Wondering if that was a good thing or a bad thing, the sexy shifter watched her approach him and then arched a brow as she seemed to spy something on his forehead and go all warrior goddess on him.
“Baby, why is your forehead all pink? What happened? Did somebody try something? Just point ‘em out and I’ll cut their Happy Friends off.”
Shaking his head, Derek looked down at her and then pulled her close. Life was definitely never boring with Lani around, he could say that for sure.
"Baby, I'm fine. I just banged my head when I heard that noise. You ok? Vic hasn't been making you shoot his wild weapons has he?"
Then, as if sensing something, the shifter stiffened and looked around. Something wasn't right and his animal instincts kicked into gear. Concern for his mate had him pushing Lani behind him on pure reflex but he knew how futile that would be.
"Did you see anything weird on your way here?" he asked quickly and firmly while reaching for his rifle.

On edge, Curse nodded at his wife and then picked up the youngest of his brood. Tellie had grown solemn and stared at her father with way to much intelligence for his liking. She was the most sensitive of the bunch and often seemed far older than her years. Being his baby, she was also the one most in tune to his moods and she often observed him when he was mapping out mission or going over security. Now, she pulled her thumb from her mouth and patted lips before snuggling close and sighing. Hugging her tight, the handsome hunter nodded at the other kids as they fell in line and saw Jake give his twin a look.
"All right. You heard your mother. Lets get going!"
Taking his wife's hand, he began to traverse the distance of the compound. The small school house was about half way to head quarters to they made a quick stop to see the pretty young school marm before heading towards security. A frown had settled on his brow by the time they reached the place and his mind was going over all the things that could have caused him to feel uneasy.
"Has anyone been let into the compound while we were gone?" he asked, looking at Jo."Maybe its nothing... Maybe I"m just still hyped up about the mission.... I just can't help feeling like something is about to happen and I don't like suprises."
Tired and still filthy from his 3 days out, the muscular hunter opened the door to head quarters and stepped inside. A few other techs hovered over monitors but no one seemed alarmed about anything.
"Yo... Hows it going?" he greeted before looking around. "Wheres Trey?"
When one of the guys replied that his wife seemed to have gone into labor, Curse gave a small smile and then pulled his wife close.
"Hmmmm... Maybe that it then.... " he muttered before running a hand through his sandy hair.

Trey Coulter - Blair/Jordan Compound: Coulter Home - October 2014Trey watched Shane quietly as she got out of the shower. He knew that the shower was soothing for her. If she could have that baby in the shower she would have. A small smile played on his lips as he watched his wife slip her nightgown on. They were about to have another child and it was a testament to the strength of the human race. There was always hope.
Trey moved forward and was about to put his arms around Shane. Wanting to comfort her and be close to her when her voice suddenly rang out. "Son of a gun... TREY COULTER YOU ARE NEVER TOUCHING ME AGAIN!!" Taking a few steps back Trey sucked in a deep breath. He'd heard that tone before, in fact he'd heard those very words before. He knew she didn't mean them, obviously, since this was their baby number three.
He was just about to move forward to help Shane again when he heard movement at the bedroom door. Turning to look he saw Jazz and heard her softly announce that the doctor was here. As Jazz turned to head back to the living room the doctor made her entrance. Trey was glad to see her.
Trey smiled and nodded at the doctor. As the doctor moved in to help Shane, Trey headed walked back over to the bed and made sure it was all made up and prepared for the ensuing child birth. Standing at the side of the bed he waited for the doctor and Shane to get settled.
(Jazz is out in the living room watching the kids. So carry on. She'll post if someone needs her.)
